I am ready to build a new upper for one of my SBR's. I've done the 300 black out thing and still currently have 4. I own 6- 5.56 SBR's so that's covered. I've played around with 6.8's and lost interest really quick for some reason.
So I am wanting to build another upper and it will be surpressed. Should I go back down the 6.8 road or try the 6.5 Grendel in an SBR? I am also up for suggestions if anyone has something in mind that has great accuracy and capable of taking game of various sizes out to 300-400 yards? |

Have you done a 9mm, i know it won't do what you mentioned, but it should be fun and God knows we need some fun.

I would do a 12.5in 6.5 grendel.
I believe wolf makes steel case for plinking and of course, there's match ammo available. I would think it would pack a good punch at 3-400 yards. Also, in b4 lrrp |

338 Spectre? Not really a 300 yard hunting cartridge, but it slings a pretty heavy sub. I'm on the fence myself.

Long 22" barrel grendel
Mid length 18" SPC Sbr 10" 9mm. That sounds about right. |

Wont matter, youll have to turn it in beginning in Feb 2017...I think youll get $100 WalMart gift card though.

It just appears to me (from following trends) that 6.5 is the cartridge with the steam behind it. Haven't heard much in the realm of 6.8 lately |

Since you have another Grendel, I would go with that. Lilja had a nice short barrel.

I had gone to the range at night with a friend who was testing a customer's barrel before he sent it out. I tagged along with my 338 spectre and a mag full of 300gr matchkings. We went on a really windy night and if you're in California then you know Fontana gets pretty bad. Just driving there was a chore. At some point I was flooring it but only going 65 on the freeway. So there we are with the truck lighting up the range at around 10pm with no one around. Buddy sends a few rounds out at the 100 yard steel and can't hit it because of the wind. It was a 223 out of a 18" barrel if I remember correctly. He had the barrel in a scoped mgi quick change upper. The spectre nailed it. Wind was not a factor. And that was with iron sights. And it rang that steel with authority. Even with the wind being loud. I loved that round. You could fit more grainage of projectile weight in one mag than a mag full of 458 socom with 600 grain projectiles and it cost less per round than the socom to boot. I really wish I had started reloading sooner. I've long since sold the upper. But it is a decision I regret having made. |

NO gun talk here , that's what FaceBook is for.
Seriously 10x more gun discussion/shooting threads then here. |

.458 Socom. Ammo will probably be a bitch but there's a handgun length upper available on the EE for what I consider a good price(not mine, no affiliation with seller), the round packs some punch, and it should be fun.
Me, I'm just hoping IA legalizes SBRs this year so I can register my 12" .45-70 Contender and add a stock. |
