An oil guy as Secretary of State - now that would drive the liberals crazy.  Wall Street Journal is also carrying this story.

Very interesting... I heard about this today.

I am conflicted on this.  On one hand the lack of Goldman Sachs and George Soros connections tells me he won't be a good fit.  On the other hand, I vaguely remember Goldman Sachs and George Soros people being the enemy.

Pretty typical Trump... float a shit load of names for the media to speculate about and then pick someone totally off the radar (but an excellent fit) for the position.

Tillerson is well qualified. He has worldwide connections at very high levels.

OTOH, he could be a stalking horse. GOPe and Dems (actually about one and the same) pitch a hissy fit and Trump drops Giuliani in as a "compromise".

I'm speculating but...

Rudy resigned his "slot" BC he's making an metric f-ton of money security consulting to Europe and the ME given a rising problem with radical "ROP'ers" it's only going to get worse - better for him. Given the security briefings he knows it's going to be an active issue in Europe and "stabile" ME nations like Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Kuwait, etc.  He'd have to give up the income stream if he took the position.  He knows it's a gravy train and can still be an "advisor" to Trump as they are friends.

If McStain Lidney gramasty, and Rubio don't like Rex   I guess he is the right pick

As far as him being friends with Putin

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer .

You have to admire a man who actually gets something done and while I don't like Putin ways as far as a leader he is 1000 times better than Barry O

Rex know the man so it should work out.

Yea the libs are going crazy with his "ties to Russia."

I personally like the idea of a lot of CEOs in power. The U.S. Is a big business and we need people to run it as such. I think trump and his team are going to run train on some countries as far as the economy goes.

Well the man started almost at the bottom of the oil field and worked his way to the very top, you have to admire that if your a working man.  Talked with a man who worked with him when he was starting out at Exxon, word is he hasn't forgot all those that he came up with, another reason to admire him.  I vaguely remember an editorial he wrote in the WSJ about liking common core to get working people up to speed for hitech jobs,  didn't like that but Sec of State shouldn't involve him in education.

IMO this whole push about Russia has been to undermine Tillerson.

This Russia shit was dismissed by the FBI like 4 months ago, and all of a sudden based on nothing new, a week long push about Russia.

the media got wind that Tillerson was going to be named, and wrote a bunch of shit about Russia to undermine him by association.

This has John Podesta/David Brock written all over it. It is what they do.

Apparently believes in climate change and carbon taxes:

From a Tillerson speech in October:

At ExxonMobil, we share the view that the risks of climate change are serious and warrant thoughtful action. Addressing these risks requires broad-based, practical solutions around the world. Importantly, as a result of the Paris agreement, both developed and developing countries are now working together to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, while recognizing differing national responsibilities, capacities and circumstances. In our industry, the best hope for the future is to enable and encourage long-term investments in both proven and new technologies, while supporting effective policies. Which is what we are doing. We have long supported a carbon tax as the best policy of those being considered. Replacing the hodge-podge of current, largely ineffective regulations with a revenue-neutral carbon tax would ensure a uniform and predictable cost of carbon across the economy. It would allow market forces to drive solutions. It would maximize transparency, reduce administrative complexity, promote global participation and easily adjust to future developments in our understanding of climate science as well as the policy consequences of these actions.

Trump is doing so much better than I expected.  I only wish he would have told us what he was going to do in the campaign.
