I went to Myrtle Beach yesterday and saw probably 50+ trucks where the front end was lifted and the back was either factory height or lowered. It was always a 90s or early 2000s domestic truck(and a couple SUVs) often accompanied by chrome rims, hid headlights, underlighting, and probably copious amounts of florida georgia line. Seems to me like it makes the truck completely worthless, but maybe that is just me. Some googling has revealed to me that it is called the "carolina squat" https://i.ytimg.com/vi/acV-cJ5-eB8/hqdefault.jpg View Quote Aynor squat. Boys right down the road from me started it. |

It's kind of like a reverse mullet. It's lifted in the front for hillbilly fun, but the back is low enough that the tiny little beta male wearing white Oakleys and an affliction shirt can still use the pick up bed for his work release construction job on Monday.

It was the cali lean 20 years ago. SC just discovered it last year when they got AOL and 56k
Seriously, been around forever, just usually on better looking trucks than that pile of crap. |

You don't. That's why it's fucking retarded. It's the same reason even a leveling kit is retarded. There is a reason a truck meant to tow and haul shit comes from the factory with a bit of a rake to it. It's that you're not staring at the clouds when you use your truck to do, you know, truck shit. Like haul loads or tow shit. View Quote Actually it comes from the factory with a rake to help with the wind tunnel and government mandated fuel economy. |

Well obliviously you guys cant see that the Invisible trailer he is hauling is overloaded

I have heard it referred to as "stinkbuggin" in the Jeep community.
I actually drove my Cherokee to work like that once but it was because I got the 3" lift coils in with no time to do the leafs before it got dark. I can't tell if people thought it was cool because I was hanging my head in shame. |

Whats old is new again... And on trucks now. Didn't gearheads do this to their cars in the 50's-60's? View Quote If I remember correctly, since I was around back then. It was the other way around. We lifted the rear end. Sometimes high enough you had to carry blocks to get the bumper jack to work. |

This has was catching on in central CA 6-7 years ago before I left

Yeah, I see it quite often.
But usually on small jap trucks from CA. I think they like to hang out down in Glamis. |

Back in my teenage years we would cruise Oscars Drive-In in Santa Ana. One night I remember a guy towed a cool gas coupe through the parking area. It had a jacked up front end (typical for the drag strip) but seemed a little higher than normal. When he stopped and people gathered around to check it out it became obvious why it was so high.....no engine.

Occasionally see a pre-runner style build, which is fine, but thankfully that retarded Carolina trend hasn't made it here.
|
|
Sweet baby Jesus, that looks dumber than fuck... and I'm very surprised I've yet to see it in my AO.

I heard it called Escondido rake
eta to mimic these Attached File Guys used to put straight axle front ends on gassers for drag racing but for totally different reasons. |

Wrong sort of truck and in the wrong location but it looks like the "pre-runner" look of the desert running trucks.
Pre-running is where the racers go out and run the race course beforehand taking notes on each jump and turn. The navigator uses these notes to let the driver know how hard and fast to take each bend and hidden jump. The higher suspension lift in the front is meant to give extra travel to compensate for the mass of the engine and crew which bias the center of gravity forward. The pre-runners favor light and more narrow trucks than the ones in your photo. The Toyota Tacoma likely accounts for +50% of the pre-runners. Why someone in the Carolina's would mimic this is puzzling. |

It looks like a dog taking a shit, plus it's a really stupid thing to do to a utility vehicle.

Just when I thought "mini truckin" was the gayest thing you could do to a pickup... I've got a guy near me that did the opposite on his Cobalt SS. He's got the back end raised up about 2 or 3 inches like the old muscle car guys used to do. View Quote He probably bought lowering springs and got the front and rear mixed up. Lol. Sadly it's relatively common here. It's usually paired with a Yeti/Costa/Salt Life sticker and black and chrome wheels.

I have never seen anything like this. Must be a southern thing.

big chrome rims sounds mexican. The front lifted more is common around here and known as the Lakeside Rake, its a bro off roader want to be look. but its on rangers with offroad tires not big chrome rims.

Just people who have little idea of what has been done before. Raising the front end was popular for a time. Later raising the rear end was a fad. I'm sure that one will make a comeback too. |

No matter how odd, bizarre, strange, and just plain fucked up something is, there will be tens of thousands of idiots who will do it, and think it is really "cool".

My truck actually has louvers that open and close in front of the radiator. When cruising in the highway you apparently don't need a lot of wind going through the radiator so the louvers close to prevent the drag of air flowing through it. |
