Posting the song is not supporting the IRA, they are terrorists especially their indiscriminate car bombing and support of the PLO. However the British don't have a squeaky clean human rights record in Ireland View Quote |

Sinn Fein is as big a joke as Scottish independence. In my experience the good Scots and Irish mostly went to America and the socialist beggars stayed behind. You have about 4 times as many Irish in America than Ireland. Probably about 4 times more productive too. Irony is that the Crown pays tribute to Ireland every month with welfare payments and council house rent.

Up the RA
Feck the Brits. They could have just left the island to the Irish. |

The modern IRA ended up being pretty scummy terrorists, allied with Marxists and the PLO.
OTOH, one can understand a desire to be independent (after all, we fought a war to be independent) and the British were quite brutal to the Irish throughout history. The phrase "Irish Republican Army" in reference to anti-British revolutionaries was first used in the late 1700's to the 1860's during Irish raids against British forts and the "official" IRA as we know it was formed in 1917--long before the PLO and Red Brigade type terrorism. The problems had been going on for a long time and the issue is very complex. |

Is there any connection between Armalite and Ireland? Most people wouldn't connection "Colt" or "Bushmaster" to firearms, I suppose.

I don't support terrorism obviously but I support an independent Ireland. No western country should be subject to occupation by another nation. I could give two shits about the rest of the world. |

It's easy to get swept up in the idea of a group fighting the empire . Hell we did it.
You need to remember something. The IRA of the Easter uprising and the IRA of the 70s onward were two very different animals. The Irish side of my family hails from the North. Belfast is still very much a divided city and the hatred is still just below the surface. It was very surreal going down falls road and seeing the Palestine flags waving out in front of Irish homes. We went about 3 weeks after Prince Charles visited Ireland and brought up a sentiment many Irish want to forget. Seeing signs like pay for town reconstruction not royal visits. It made me realize the troubles are not over they are just dormant . But thankfully most Irish don't want to go back to those times. The people turned against the IRA when they started blowing up buildings and killing civilians. I'm a baptised Catholic with strong Irish and Polish roots and I will forever say fuck the bloody IRA! |
|
Neither sides hands are clean in Ireland, however I will say once the IRA threw their lot in with the PLO, Gadaffi, the Soviets and other terror organizations, they became scum. They could have held onto the lore of 1916 and became noble freedom fighters like the Mujahadeen, the Contras etc, but they fell for socialist bullshit.
Parking cars full of C4 in busy shopping blocks, painting houses white to highlight soldiers walking at night, planting IED's in in loose bricks of homes with families unknowingly living inside, planting bombs on buses to kill soldiers on holiday in a foreign country does not lend itself well to portray their cause as a legitimate one. The IRA, Sin Fein, PIRA The Real IRA, etc are nothing more than pale faced versions of ISIS, Al Qaeda and Hezbollah. |
