I'm going.  I have never been and have no idea what to do or expect.

However, I do plan to go to the forum hosted by the gun collective.

Well, I'm bailing this year for the first time in a while. Too far to drive and too cheap to buy a plane ticket. Trout fishing sounds better.

We're going, also. Wanted to go to Nashville, but didn't. It'll be our first one.

We did the preregistration thing here last month, but still haven't received any badges.

I'll be at the Embassy Suites adjacent to the park.  I've stayed there several times for CDC meetings.

BTW, one of my very favorite BBQ places is just a block or two away:  http://twinsmokersbbq.com

I eat there every time I am over there and highly recommend it.

I met him at last year's meeting at lunch.  Also met Miculek.

The NRA meeting is great fun.  I will be loading in the show (making my Life Membership dues back) as well as attending the show.

Advise from a local -

Don't waste money on the ferris wheel downtown.

You can carry almost everywhere you go in GA (including bars) as long as you have a valid permit recognized by GA… just cannot discharge your firearm except in self-defense.

Don't eat at CNN center.  There are better places to eat, and CNN reserves the right to deny your 2A rights.

Marta will get you to the show AND you are allowed to carry (w/ a permit if course).

Make sure you keep your credentials close… GWCC security thinks that they are the Gestapo.

Don't park anywhere that isn't a legitimate parking facility.

Come a day or two early (or stay an extra day or two).  Atlanta is a great place to enjoy.

Georgia Gun Club (not close to downtown) has a 100 yd indoor range.  A bit expensive, but a great facility. (I have no affiliation w/ them… just enjoy an occasional trip there)

If you're on Facebooks, look up his profile.  He listed his schedule sometime in the last week.  I met him a couple of years ago in the Federal booth, he was browsing waiting to start his presentation.  He's a big dude.

What are good go to events besides the annual members meeting?

I'm thinking of getting tickets to the ILA Leadership Conference. What else, besides the exhibitions?

I agree about the deals, a lot of the vendors do not want to carry merchandise home, but it was very crowded on Sunday in Louisville. Hopefully, bigger venue means more room to move.

I'll be there with Mrs. MongooseKY and MongooseKY Jr.  Missed last year due to moving but am making a 2 day appearance this year.  We went to the prior two years (Indianapolis and Nashville) but only went one day each - that's just not enough time to take it all in!

The 2017 iPhone App is now available, you can plan and lay out all of your "must see" vendors, in booth order, prior to the show. I used it at the past several shows and it is a big help. I get them out of the way first thing and then go aisle by aisle and look at every booth. There are a lot of show specials to be had.

Here is the exhibitor list...

I was just wondering about Caracal and checked the exhibitor list, I didn't see them on it.

Are they going or is someone else going to be carrying their guns?

All depends on where you're staying and when you're arriving.  Avoid rush hour for arrival and don't stay on the NE side of town, it won't be too bad, there will be highway signs with detours around the closed area, either around I-285W to I-75S or I-285S to I-20W, most likely.  Friday will likely be the worst since there will still be the people who are going to work that day, aggravating traffic and parking, Saturday and Sunday probably won't be too bad.

I am out too. I have been going for the last 6-7 years and I have to say that the show has gotten worse and worse year over year.

The booths are smaller every year and there are almost no good show deals anymore.

In St. Louis Magpul had a massive outlet store, last year they had a booth not much bigger than my living room and nothing for sale because some vendors got pissy.

After one or two conventions, the swag gets old and free shit isn't worth carrying around.

As to the talks/seminars to attend, they are VERY NRA and are boring as hell. There will be very little instruction stuff and lot of political and donation talk. Some booths will have some well known shooting people doing some simple demos but there will be 5000 surrounding them and it is even worse if Gunny or Jerry are around.

I think I am going to keep my show attendance to a 6-8 hour drive from now on.
