Never saw it, but I think it's on Prime Streaming now. I might have to give that a shot this week.

Blazing Saddles is still king though.

Blazing Saddles is one of my favorite movies.

I do like Kentucky Fried Movie a little better, though.

Kentucky Fried Movie is hilarious, but it is very uneven. Some of the bits are insanely funny while others just fall flat, and the presentation doesn't flow very well.

KFM also suffers from a lack of exposure. It would be as big as Blazing Saddles if they could actually air it on TV without cutting and censoring half the movie.

People like it because it addresses racial humor in an unashamed and hilarious way.

Besides, the line about "Kansas City faggots" is way funnier than any of the 'nigger' jokes.

Plus, Gene Wilder was a comic god. Slim Pickens wasn't half bad, either.

Plus, Mel Brooks has this undercurrent of subtle humor that other comedy films just don't do at all. There's tons of jokes in his movies that aren't put right in your face. For example, in Blazing Saddles (BS, if you will...), did you know that all the townfolk of Rock Ridge are named Johnson?

KFM is OK, but very dated in comparison. I felt a lot of the humor didn't hold up over time. It is also very ADD with the shorts and feels disjointed.

Blazing Saddles and Animal House are better as theatrical movies.

Whether you think it's stupid or not, it more or less dates you.

It was a certain kind of movie to have come out at a certain time, and reflective of what was going on back then.

Either you can remember that, and it makes sense, or you don't.

I watched it with my 22-year-old ex-girlfriend, she didn't get it. And she likes stuff like danger 5 and archer.

Blazing Saddles is absolutely NOT a "dumb" movie. It has multiple layers of comedy, satire and social commentary.

Now the top layer of "dumb", lowest common denominator humor, slapstick and n-word jokes is there and it's in your face,

but there is a lot more subtle things going on too.
