Shipping infected boots is way more off the wall than I expected. Also quite ineffective. That would get figured out before 80 percent of the boots were unboxed.

Just going by your thread title...
Nothing should be laughed at or considered an off-the-wall way of attacking the US. Shit, how many people actually know that the World Trade Center was bombed by Islamic radicals in 1993? The majority of US citizens didn't know back then, and still don't know. That shit was off the wall, and we STILL didn't wake up because it was looked at as an off-the-wall failure. It took us over eight years to wake up when something even MORE off-the-wall happened. A lot of shit is possible even though we like to laugh about it until it happens. Shoe bomber? We'd have laughed at that too if someone hadn't tried. |

Either the bad guys are not very smart, or not very brave .... or even less likely, our counter measures are awesome because a few friends of mine sat over some drinks and came up with many very doable scenarios to absolutely wreck havoc on multiple levels. Many of the ideas were definitely suicide missions so I'm leaning towards dwindling numbers of "true believers".
Complain all you want about questionable incarcerations for "suspects" and enhanced interrogation techniques but I think when the word got out that we can and will find you and essentially lock you up and throw you a shitty party every day they question their commitment. |

A hundred guys shooting the large power transformers (there are not many in reserve) in their designated AO and then doing a rinse repeat on any smaller street level transformers until they are stopped if ever, would basically be a dark sky event and take years to fix (plus cause untold amounts of suffering and death).
Basically a Carrington event without the solar flare. I can think of tons more but this one scenario has always struck me as the easiest to pull off, it would doubly easy for an insurgency to pull off if such a thing ever needed to happen. Want to watch the cities burn? Just shut their power off for a week, then it would get real. |

Hit the main power transformers. From my understanding, we don't keep back-ups of the BIG ones, and ironically, they're made overseas. Couple guys with rifles could do major damage that would shut down massive parts of the US, and it would take a while to get it back up. |
