The idea of good bourbon has appealed to me for quite a while, but I just couldn't get past the burn, even on fairly low proof stuff. I guess all of the high ABV beer I've been drinking has increased my tolerance and I'm finally really enjoying the one bottle I have, which is Four Roses Small Batch.
The Four Roses has a sweetness to me and I really like that. I really like vanilla in my beers (barrel aged stouts) so what are some decent, not-to-expensive bourbons that are sweet and possibly have some strong vanilla notes? |

You'll find it on the bottom shelf, but it hits much higher. |

A few "milder" bourbons come to mind, the Weller variants will be more difficult to find, so I'll stick with the high availability bottles. As stated, anything high wheat will seem "sweeter", in general. Basil Hayden (some find it weak, likely a good starter) not much vanilla, but a crowd favorite among new fans. Makers Mark, the current French Oaked varient is quite good for the price, it's a high wheat bottle. 1792 Old Forester 1910, lot of flavor in a lower proof Bernheims is another Wheater, I don't personally like it but many do. Buffalo Trace Eagle Rare Looking for "wheated" versions will likely lead you to "milder" variants. On the higher side, Jefferson Ocean, Wheated voyages, seem to have a milder, caramel note, they'll be a bit more expensive and harder to find, though. |

I've been working on my barrel head/bottle cork display table. Head and staves are Wild Turkey. Got the holes drilled tonight foe the corks. Sanded the top and got it stained. Still need to poly and add a few finishing touches but it is close.
