Several stills from a Russian MoD video released yesterday that provide a closer look at what appear to be UMPK-equipped 500kg-class ODAB-500OF bombs. The footage appears to be from Morozovsk air base in Rostov Oblast.

Interesting, that blog claims these OTHRs could potentially see stealth aircraft using ionospheric skip. Not good enough for fire control, but good enough to vector some IRST-equipped fighters to the area.

And for something a little different.

Two Russian telescopes I owned a decade or so ago, first is a Intes Micro MN56 bought in 2006 and the second is a Intes Micro MN 58 bought in 2009.

Why produce the T80, when they're so un-hampered by sanctions that they can continue to produce the T90?

Obvious sarcasm, I half expected to see an MT-LB or T-55 in there.

Used back then the MN56 was about $600.00 and I paid about $700.00 or so for the MN58.

New the 56 was a little under $1000.00 then.

The 58 was probably about $1400.00 or a little less if I remember correctly.

They were still sold new then so I got a deal on each one used.

Now probably quite a bit more IF you can find one.

The MN56 was by far the most common of the two and come up for sale every couple of years, the MN58 is FAR more rare and the last one I saw advertised here in the us was late 2011.

I've seen mine and one other for sale in the past 15 years in the US.

These are lessons waterfowl hunters have learned the hard way for decades.  Interesting how drone warfare is highlighting some of the same camo basics.   One of the easiest ways to get busted by ducks is not having good overhead camo when they are circling.

They have hundreds of unused T-80 hulls and turrets, at the moment the fastest way to produce new tanks.

Maybe i missed it, but what exactly is the point? The cope cages didn't work against ATGM's so i doubt a tin shed would do anything.

Camouflage? Seems pointless when you have 10' of barrel sticking out, and tracks leading to it...

I think most of the junk hanging off vehicles now is to give standoff from mini-drones and the munitions they drop or kamikaze into the vehicle.

It's against small drones and cluster ammo. Turtle Mk.3 survived multiple DPCIM hits.

More conventional protection for a BMP3 compared to toting around a barn.  Says it is "Karkas-2" ERA.

Wonder how big a bang it will make.
