I am all about value bets, but I almost always avoid them for awards and last season’s MVP voting is a perfect reason why.

Purdy and Dak had the best two seasons by a QB.

Instead, Groot got 49 of 50 votes with Allen getting the other.

Sorry @David_ESM you got robbed.

Unquestionably. It was a 100% media vote, had nothing to do with who was the best quarterback all season long.

Still has 2 years left on his deal. They restructured him last year to clear cap space. They can do so again this year if they want, but it will really bump his cap hit next year entering his extension season.

2024 cap: $36.6M
2025 cap: $33M

They can restructure almost $14M of 2024 if they want, which if they don't add void years (I don't think they would) would change the cap to:

2024: ~$30M
2025: ~$40M

Edit: If they want to extend him again, it is better not to restructure this year, then next off-season work out an extension that takes care of the 2025 cap by rolling things up into a signing bonus/restructuring his $25M due, with a fresh 4-5 year spread.

If the earlier reports were to be believed, it was (subject to change) a two horse race between NE and JAX with JAX reportedly trying to match NE's offers. If this report is then to be believed, it seems JAX is no longer willing to match NE?

Saquon's deal. Initial report: 3 yr, $37.75M, $26M guaranteed.

Details:
$11.625M signing bonus
$1.375M 2024 salary
$11M 2025 salary
$12M 2026 salary
$26M guaranteed
Which means $1.5M of 2026 guaranteed.

Roster bonus of $250k per game for all 3 years
$1M bonus if on the roster at the start of the 2026 league year.

So a 2 year deal with the option to keep the 3rd year if he is still performing well. If they cut him after 2025 they will still owe him $1.5M in cash, but would then save $7M in cap space vs playing in 2026.

Edit: Even if they want to keep him for 2026, I would expect a restructure/extension at that point since his cap hit would be at $15.6M.

2024 cap: $3.9M
2025 cap: $13.6M

I don't have millions, but I just brought home a new Bad Boy Maverick 60" Kawasaki yesterday.

I would have much rather spent that money on other things, but oh well. It should last me well over 10 years.

The Athletic, a number of weeks late, doing an article with Ariel's mother Felicia on Brit Reid's early release (commuted sentence) by the Governor.

Mother of girl injured in Britt Reid crash says 'we didn't get justice' after sentence reduced

"We went to court, we (were) told, 'You're going to get justice.' He's put away for a year and about three months. So we didn't get justice. It's not enough."

"I know they say sometimes you have to forgive and forget to move on. But looking at my baby every day and seeing my daughter, how she has to live, and then seeing how he could be back at home, comfortable."

"He keeps just getting a little slap on a wrist. When you keep just letting somebody get away, get away, get away, they're going to continue to do it."

Yeah that’s a factor.

I haven't made any fun gun purchases in a year, and the wish list is building up. I want a SiCo Velos LBP even more now that F4 times are down, I want to play with a TA-33, I want to play with an AUG... the list goes on. I could have bought a small pile of that stuff with the mower money, but as you say, the mower's going to get a lot more hours.

What really gets me is I've been cruising FB marketplace looking at older trucks, and I've seen some neat ones I could have bought for the price. Oh well.

That is also true.

Looking at the tax situation. If Ridley is looking at somewhere around 3 years for $45M, then he is losing close to $4M in tax over the length of the contract in MA.

$4M becomes wiggle room towards staying in Florida. 3 years for $40M to stay in JAX wouldn't be so much a "hometown discount" as it would just be avoiding state income tax and staying in a more enjoyable area.
