The Cleveland Browns and running back Nick Chubb have agreed to terms on a reworked contract that will ensure he is back on the team for the 2024 season, a source confirmed to ESPN on Thursday.

A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the Browns reduced Chubb's salary cap hit from $15.85 million to $6.275 million and that the running back can earn up to $12.2 million next season based on performance levels he was achieving prior to his season-ending left knee injury last year.

DALLAS - An arrest warrant has been issued for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice in connection to his involvement in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 75 in late March, sources tell WFAA.

Rice, 23, now faces eight charges in the case -- six counts of collision involving bodily injury, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and one count of aggravated assault, according to the arrest warrant.

Some other info from the article, some I didn't know:

According to the police report obtained by WFAA, a total of six people were split between the Lamborghini and the Corvette that were speeding on 75 northbound just before 6:30 p.m. on March 30. The luxury cars lost control and caused a crash that involved six vehicles.

All of the occupants of the Lamborghini and Corvette fled the scene, leaving multiple victims behind without exchanging information or insurance, and without checking to make sure everyone was OK.

The police report also said marijuana was found in both cars, as well as credit cards, a $16,500 check, a diamond chain and the playbook for the Kansas City Chiefs.

So, how does the insurance handle this? Two of the vehicles belong  to Rice. One was a lease. IIRC, no payout when 2 vehicles under the same insured person pay in an accident..
Any insurance peeps here?

This is total speculation on my part, but assuming both vehicles had comprehensive coverage, I'd expect insurance to provide coverage up to the limits.

I would think a HUGE percentage of insurance claims are either:
A) the covered individual was a moron and caused a bunch of damage
B) someone else was a moron and caused a bunch of damage, but they either were uninsured, didn't stick around, or both

Unless there's fine print in one or both policies excluding street racing, he's probably covered like everyone else.

Where I would expect claims to be denied is in intentional acts of destruction. If Rice lit his Corvette on fire, he's probably getting charges of insurance fraud instead of a payout.

In the late 70s in Indiana, my sister backed into another one of our cars in the driveway. Insurance did not pay for the repairs.

Did your family have comprehensive/full coverage or liability only?

Both were only a couple years old at most. I would assume they had full coverage on both. My parents were pissed off about the insurance not paying. We didn't have money to pay cash for cars, that is for sure.

For whatever else OJ was (and there is a lot), he was still one hell of a running back.

143.1 yards per game in a 2,000 yard season will NEVER be equaled or beat.

Almost all boilerplate policies come with sections covering illegal actions inclusive of street racing. They usually also include a section that disqualifies damages that occur at a track.

And for you southerners, they don’t cover trucks falling through ice into a frozen lake either

Rashee Rice surrendered himself to authorities and was booked into DeSoto jail yesterday. Facing eight charges in the six vehicle crash. He admitted to driving a Lamborghini Urus involved in the collision, officials said, which injured four people.

A DeSoto city spokesman told The Dallas Morning News that Rice had bonded out. Dallas police said in a news release sent about 9 p.m. Rice turned himself into Glenn Heights police. Records show his bail was set at $40,000.

Theodore "Teddy" Knox, a current SMU football player, is facing the same charges in connection to the March 30 crash, Dallas police say. He is believed to have been driving a Chevrolet Corvette seen speeding right before the collision. Knox, 21, has been suspended from the team, the university announced Thursday. He is not in custody, Dallas police said Thursday.

He also did it on natural grass, not on the modern turf which allows for more reliable footing. No soft spots, frozen turf, divots or, baseball fields with modern fields.

I wonder what he could have done with modern tech.

Insane numbers but I have no doubt there's as good as OJ athletes today to do it, with the vision and quickness. O-Line athletes are better than just sides of beef that played in the 70's and 80's.

The issue will be if the NFL will ever go back to 1973-style ground-and-pound football.

Having the athleticism to theoretically perform a feat is one thing.

Actually pulling off the feat is another.

Agreed. But we may never see a run first NFL again. And it's not like anyone has come near 6.0 YPC, with any substantial sample size, either in a long, long time.

When a QB is under pressure, attempts to scramble up the middle, and then is tackled from behind for a loss, I frequently find myself channeling this.

Texans posted a 15 minute long video about their uniform redesign: Twitter

Uniform "release party" is scheduled for next Tuesday.

Of course Cal posted one of the 4 new uniforms on Reddit a while ago and I posted that in the thread. There are 3 more uniforms to be unveiled. Reportedly all 4 will be different, not just inverting the colors. There will be:
  • 1 Bull inspired uniform
  • 1 "Classic"
  • 1 "Modern"
  • 1 "Tough" uniform with H-Town tribute
The "Tough" uniform was designed by former Texans players.

The Texans will run with three new helmets. Two of the three will use the same shell but different face mask colors.

They will not be using "Deep Steel Blue". Switching to a new "brighter, more standard blue" color.
