Okay. The very specific angled Totenkopf SS "Death's Head" skull? You're asking for trouble and drama. Marine Snipers used to do the exact same thing with "SS" for Scout Sniper. Basically you could use any font for "SS" (Scout Sniper) and not get into trouble. But if you pick the specific Nazi SS Lightning Bolts, you're asking for trouble and drama. When I was in, the rules for our platoon t-shirts were simple: No SS Lightning Bolts or the Totenkopf SS unit skull because of past issues with those two symbols only. Those two were the only designs that were banned. Anything else was fine. No one cares about skulls and crossbones, pirate patches, etc.. They only care if it's a very specific design relating to a very specific Nazi SS unit. |

Good thing he didn't have a "Deus Vult" patch.
Attached File "Deus vult has been adopted by a slogan by a variety of alt-right and white supremacist groups.[6][7] This usage was disseminated widely online,[7] though hashtags and internet memes.[6] Crusader memes (such as an image of a Knight Templar accompanied by the caption "I'll see your jihad and raise you one crusade") are popular on far-right internet pages.[23] It is one of several pieces of Crusader imagery used by far-right Christian nationalists and dominionists.[24] By co-opting the slogans and iconography of the European medieval period, racist movements in the U.S. intend to evoke a fantasy of a "pure" white European heritage, a nostalgic view that is historically inaccurate, and has been denounced by medievalist scholars as a gross distortion of history.[6][7][dubious – discuss] The "Deus vult" slogan was used by the perpetrators of Right-wing terrorism; it was repeatedly used by the perpetrator of the 2017 Quebec City mosque shooting[25] and was one of the tattoos on the body of the perpetrator of the 2023 Allen, Texas outlet mall shooting.[26] It was among the slogans and symbols used during the violent far-right riot in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017.[27] The slogan, as well as other Knights Templar imagery, has also been associated with far-right subgroups in the U.S. that merge Christian nationalism with gun culture; a Florida gun manufacturer engraved the slogan on its "Crusader" model of AR-15-style rifle.[28] The motto is also used by Christian nationalist groups in Europe; it was portrayed on large banners carried by far-right marchers in 2017 in Warsaw, Poland.[24][29][30]" |

The Nazis had eagles as part of their symbology too after they copied the Romans. I guess eagles are evil too!!
It's hilarious how big a deal is made out of somebody wearing a fucking piece of fabric with a drawing on it. There's no allegiance implied by a young guy to a destroyed state from 80 years ago because he's wearing what he thought was a cool logo that belonged to a unit from said destroyed state. I scoffed at that idiot that graduated from the Army or Naval academy and had a hammer and sickle flag under his cap, but that is arguably worse because it WAS the flag of the Soviet Union and he DOES have allegiance to their ideology. Did anything happen to him? |

People didnt get their panties in a bunch over any random thing back then though. It was pretty obvious they were SS lightning bolts though. |
