It is often impossible to distinguish the genuine Russian government shills from the isolationist types, but while the former is worse, the latter is disgustingly historically ignorant. I learned a good deal of what I know about modern Russia from a book detailing Stalin's rule and the Eastern Front of the second world war. Learning all of the details of Stalin's time indeed showed that the current Russia is the spiritual heir of the Soviet Union, from taking Ukrainian property as the new red horde advances, especially grain/food, to the "disappearing" of individuals in occupied areas, never to be seen again, to other things. |

 Ever imagine seeing a young girl with a Stalin sticker on her guitar? The highest estimates claim guy killed over 60,000,000 of his own people or about three times as many Soviets as the Germans did. Putin has spent the last two decades internally rehabilitating Stalin’s image and indoctrinating the belief that the repressions and killings were justified and necessary. Outwardly they say he was Georgian not Russian so it doesn’t reflect on them.  A country that wants to return to the past. Fuck Russel Bentley too. |

Ukraine is doing really badly right now. Russian foothold was established in Chasov Yar. Bogdanovka and Ivanovske have been crossed off the Russians' to-do list, or are mostly there. Foothold is also opened in Krasnohorivka, and the front line just made a huge movement north of the city when the 25th Air Mobile brigade surrendered to Russia. West of the city (the supply lines) got flooded because of a dam being blown. Towns are falling faster and faster. Any day now Shoigu will announce their victory in the battle for Novomykhailivka. I guess the Ukraine side needs to appreciate any nuggets of encouraging news that become available.
