My elementary school art teacher was busted for being a pedo a couple of decades ago now. I don’t know if he was popped for CP or for molestation; maybe both. He never touched me but his career obviously gave him access to lots of children.
At first everyone from my class said, “No way! Can’t believe it!” But then remembered he could be touchy-feely and as kids we just didn’t know any better. |

Here's a f-up story, we had a supervisor at my former job who has a son from an earlier marriage.
The supervisor was living with a pregnant GF at the time and somehow he got snagged for child porn along with his son, they came in and seized his company laptop plus gained access to his company PC and cell phone , plus all his personal electronic devices at home. He lost his job, can't live with the GF since she gave birth, on the sea offenders list, etc, etc. And I'm not 100% sure if he had previously been in trouble for crimes against children or child porn. He was a skinny little dick and I always thought that he was a sketchy person. |

A related stat reveals that 15% of U.S. families reportedly were impacted by some form of incest, with father-daughter molestation being the most common. My son’s roommate got arrested for possession of CP. My son always said he was weird but the other roommate got along with him and they’d known him in college.
8 am loud knock followed by the FBI identifying themselves. 5 agents, guns drawn (including AR’s) and he and the other roommate (not the perv) were put up against the wall and frisked (except for my son who had just gotten out of the shower and was allowed to hold his towel closed). They went through everyone’s computer and confiscated the pervs (who was gone at the time which they knew). They pretty much knew everything and knew the other two guys living there weren’t involved. The kid was on a well-known site downloading and trading CP but not producing it. The guy talked to the cops, told them everything they already knew and didn’t get any time. I figured he’d do SOME time. Everyone was shocked he basically walked. |

Pretty sure the controversy with Apple was that they were going to be scanning files for CSAM hashes locally on iOS & ipadOS devices before they were uploaded. I know the intention was to detect CSAM for iCloud, but the actual hash scan was taking place on the device, not the server. I suppose that somehow Apple's standard practices on user privacy & security put them in the position of needing to run detection locally, because Google clearly has no issue with scanning everything on the server side. One of the known issues is that the CSAM file hashes are public knowledge, so it is possible to create a seemingly benign file which will trigger a false positive. Also, any minor changes to the image will change the files hash, even just recompressing a JPG will avoid detection. |

I moved to a small town years ago and the local FFL I did some transfers through got arrested a few years later for child porn. Apparently it was his second time getting caught so he's doing a long stint in prison now. |

Until there is a conviction I don't pay much attention to accusations.
An acquaintance was accused of having CP on his computer. His daughter was in girl scouts with mine and his wife was fairly active in the troop. I'd met him a few times and went to a cook out at his house. He seemed like a good guy to me, his wife on the other hand... She always gave me a bad vibe. Strong type A personality, had to be in charge, had an answer for everything and my gut told me to keep her at arms length. Well, one day she discovers child porn on her husband's computer. Immediately files for divorce and splits, taking the kids with her. Big news story, local guy, very professional, the last person you'd expect, caught with CP. Wife plays the victim, sets up go fund me for the expensive divorce and cries about it on FB. He had a serious disease, kidney related if I remember right, and was able to prove that he was at doctors appointments when some of the files were downloaded onto his PC. He's now remarried, has visitation rights and lives several hours away. The going theory is his wife set him up. Of course she is running around scot free. |
