My wife taught the brother of the guy who married Amy Lee piano lessons.  I knew him when he was just a little boy in the 80s.

I never met her though😝

So I vote Cecilia Bartoli.

someone i just stumbled over, Annalise Mahanes.   The blue hair detracts points but the vocals and body is killer.

At the moment it is Daniela Villarreal. That may change in the future. Karen Carpenter is one of the all time best. So is
Whitney Houston. I'm also like Shakira.

I am a big fan of Diana Krall, I have a couple of her live concerts on Blu Ray and a Auro3d 11.2 surround system, I pour two fingers of scotch on the rocks, I toss one in the blu ray player , turn out the lights, recline, and it is almost like being there, makes for a nice escape from reality.

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.

Ado

Vocal range and voice type Ado: G2 - C7 (4 octaves and 4 semitones)   Mezzo-soprano

She can literally sing anything in any characterization the song requires. Screams, yodels, yelps, falsettos, breathy, anything.

I think she's actually a Kaiju or a new force of nature. I read somewhere a music critic thought of her as a pissed off opera singer.
My kids love her and are constantly playing her in the house. There is no escape...

For over thirty years, I would have listed Emmylou Harris as my #1 favorite. I have everything she's ever recorded and have seen her in concert seven times.

But both she and I have aged out.

Current fave is Lzzy Hale. I have everything she's ever recorded and have seen her in concert six times, five times from the front row of the pit. I also got to meet her and got a big hug from her.

Lately, I've spent a lot of time listening to Gillian Welch. I have all her recordings also, but have never seen her.

Have you ever heard these old gals? They'll bring a tear to your eye.
