My friend Gillian of Turnspit and Hi Ho.  Maybe followed by Jen/Poly form The Bombpops or perhaps Tori Amos?

Oh, yeah. Sade's fantastic.

A while back an Amazon delivery truck went through the neighborhood absolutely blasting music; it took me a second to realize they had Smooth Operator cranked to 11.

I agree, she's got a great voice. That cover posted was also outstanding.

Amy Lee sings it in concert, while playing the piano.

Annie Lennox and Alison Krause are some of my picks.

Early Linda Ronstadt could sing great too.

As for Nicks, I actually preferred Christine McVie's voice. Look for Songbird on video. Breathtaking.

I like Stevie's voice better; though Christine is no slouch. And yet, I actually prefer the songs Christine wrote and takes lead on - Little Lies, Everywhere, You Make Loving Fun, etc. Basically all of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs are hers.

Lana Del Rey. There's just something warm and "old-timey" sounding about her voice that I love.

I still wish she would do a cover track of Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)". She would nail it.

Lauren Mayberry, (formerly) of the group "CHVRCHES" is another good one.

Skylar Grey. Her collaborations with Kaskade are instant classics.

A little "less known" singer is Gulsah Brett. If you're into electronic/synth-wave/synth-pop music, she is incredible on this Franck Choppin track:

Gospel.

Victory Boyd is good stuff.
Helps that she's a anti jab Patriot.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe is almost fascinating the way she worked a crowd with her high energy.

Oh yeah - the mandolin! That just lends such a folksy feel to her music. I watch/listen to a lot of her live performances, and she just seems to be having so much fun that it's infectious. I can imagine that the atmosphere at her shows is great.

I found her totally by accident. I was looking for poem readings on YT and found her lyrical version of Poe's 'Annabel Lee.' It's not my favorite, but I was enchanted by her voice and playing.

Used to be Johnny Cash's sister in law Anita Carter the "Appalachian Angel" as they called her but she's since died so now it's a toss up between Heather Berry Mabe and Patty Loveless!! Honorable mention goes to the late Jessye Norman. Can she bellow it out !!!!
Jessye Norman amazing grace for Martin Luther KING
