If you don't think that every bit of the Democrat's current level of lawfare against Trump wouldn't have been directed at whomever replace him as enemy number one by getting the Republican nomination, I think you're naive.

I like DeSantis, and think he would be a great President, but have no doubt, DeSantis would have suddenly found himself indicted and sued in 100 per cent Democrat districts about a week after securing the nomination.

Lawfare will be the Democrats new election strategy from here on.

He made some amateur mistakes that made him appear not very charismatic on the campaign trail, but he would have made an excellent President and I think even with his oddities charisma wise would have handly defeated the geriatric Biden.

Let's hope that the damage Trump's cultists did to him doesn't have any staying power.  Trump did appear to back off him after he withdrew from the primaries pretty nicely for Trump and I don't think his cultist have the same grudge against DeSantis as they do against say Cruz.

Again, you thought Trump was the better executive and better candidate. Own it.

I'll continue to point out why DeSantis was the better candidate every time he does something based as an executive, which if history is any indication won't stop anytime soon. We put up with your lies about DeSantis for months to prop up "your" guy, and now you are trying to absticate responsibility. I wish I could say I'm surprised.

The part in red. I plan on voting for Trump. Sorry desantis wasn't more popular but that isn't my fault.

There is no federal candidate for President that is coming to save us. Period.

Though they would likely go after him for something (show me the man and I’ll show you the crime)

Sticking with the less conservative candidate with a poor record on guns, Covid, spending, etc etc who is under multiple felony indictments because the more conservative candidate with the better record might get attacked in the same manner is some seriously flawed logic.

You seem to imply that they are\were thinking.

If he gets thrown into prison, the republicans will be without a nominee, or at best, in a very confusing and dire situation.  They should have kept DeSantis in reserve.

nobody lied. DeSantis is a terrible campaigner, and turned right straight to the deep state.

I would LOVE to have Desantis, but Desantis and Desantis only, fucked up his campaign.

I'm hoping he learns lessons and goes national.  He would be great.  I have doubts he will, but I'm crossing my fingers.

I never said he was the savior of the GOP. I’ve contended he outclasses Trump in every meaningful and measurable metric. Except winning the nomination of course. But it’s to be expected when half the GOP thinks mean tweets is a sound platform and liberal heads exploding is competent governance.

Primaries and the general election are two different animals as well.  DeSantis soundly won his last one, turning parts of Florida red for the first time in a generation. How did Trump’s go?

Hopelessly naive. lol.

It’s fascinating to me that people refuse to look objectively when comparing the morality, personal conduct, and professional conduct of two people like Desantis and Trump. And the consequences (or lack thereof) of their respective actions.

Do you know why Desantis has never been accused of raping a woman? Do you know why Mike Pence has never been accused of raping a woman? It’s because they unflinchingly refuse to allow themselves to be put in a situation where the slightest hint of impropriety could be inferred. They know the left hates them, but they are smart. So they live their lives in a manner where their character and integrity is beyond reproach. They don’t put themselves in situations where 3 dozen different woman can claim sexual misconduct, they don’t brag on tape about committing sexual assault. They don’t cheat on 3 different wives. They don’t pay porn star hush money. They don’t have public affairs with playboy bunnies.

And then, when your entire life isn’t mired in personal and professional misconduct scandals, you can actually govern. And get re-elected. And then do things like passing legislation that teaches the dangers of communism in the public school curriculum.

It's fascinating to me that people refuse to look objectively when comparing the morality, personal conduct, and professional conduct of two people like Desantis and Trump. And the consequences (or lack thereof) of their respective actions.

Do you know why Desantis has never been accused of raping a woman? Do you know why Mike Pence has never been accused of raping a woman? It's because they unflinchingly refuse to allow themselves to be put in a situation where the slightest hint of impropriety could be inferred. They know the left hates them, but they are smart. So they live their lives in a manner where their character and integrity is beyond reproach. They don't put themselves in situations where 3 dozen different woman can claim sexual misconduct, they don't brag on tape about committing sexual assault. They don't cheat on 3 different wives. They don't pay porn star hush money. They don't have public affairs with playboy bunnies.

And then, when your entire life isn't mired in personal and professional misconduct scandals, you can actually govern. And get re-elected. And then do things like passing legislation that teaches the dangers of communism in the public school curriculum.
I'm sure if he won the nomination the kidnapping investigations would have picked up more steam, but I agree that RDS would have been a harder target and less likely to make the sort of mistakes that leave him open to motivated lawfare.

Wow, the irony of calling someone hopelessly naive and thinking all of Trumps problems are self-inflicted.
He is far from perfect, but he hasn't been a politician all of his life.  Non-politicians don't spend their life constantly worried how this might look, or that might look.  Normal people are naive enough that the the Left can exploit. YOU REALLY think all the charges against Trump happened?
If DeSantis got the nomination, you don't think there would be women coming forward right now with accusations?
WOW.

Human Trafficking.

Weaponization of government against cultural/political enemies.

Violation of church and state with adoption of laws that protect only one certain religious/ minority group.

They can make up anything and you know it, stop being disingenuous just to prolong the division. They got Trump for millions for saying a lady that lied about him being a rapist was crazy.

The sour grapes over DeSantis is ridiculous.  It was plain to anyone who wasn't deluded that if Trump was going to run DeSantis needed to stay the fuck out of the way or he was going to #1 Lose and #2 possibly get politically injured in the process.

Now that the inevitable has come to pass I wonder just how real these crocodile tears are that flare up in every thread. Nothing positive comes from this crap.

Skydivesnake called me hopelessly naive, because I refuse to project Trump’s personal and professional misconduct and failures, and the inevitable repercussions, onto better men.

That would be great but DeSantis guys could never keep Trump's name out of their mouths. The whole rent free thing seems to be true.

If the “hateful idiotic morons” (sic) Never Trumpers would get their heads out of their asses and their hands off their bumpstocks, he would win.

But alas, he cannot pass a purity test which Jesus Christ Himself would fail.

Thank you

When I posted this thread, I was simply bragging on my Governor.

But the shitheads had to fuck it all up.
