They're missing the North part of NATO. But then again Taiwan is missing the Atlantic part, and some people want them in. They'll need to start adding letters to nato as it bloats like a deer that has gotten hit by a car, make it NATOGBTQI+ or something

Nope, it’s the proper name.

Why not Mexico? Send them all giant sums of cash on pallets. Maybe Chile could use a reboot too. Money solves it all apparently.

Should be a marketing slogan for Russia.

"We are so scary we made Argentina join NATO."

Fuck them, that ain’t the North Atlantic. Upside, it would mean they forever forsake a claim to the Falklands… they would never take on a NATO ally.

Probably basic stuff. I know the west would love it if they built a big artillery factory.

Milei is also very pro Ukraine which helps.

Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain aren't in the north Atlantic, either.  The location of member countries doesn't seem to matter anymore.

They tend to do this thing where they go full Capitalist and full socialist the following election cycle. Then back to Capitalist again.

Like an economic yoyo.

And another thing.  For all the Milei lickers out there - he's the new jefe - don't you think it's a bit odd that the "libertarian" presidente is a bit quick on the trigger to get all that sweet, sweet NATO cheese?

I think he sees where his economy is going and is desperately trying to get mo munny without printing it himself.  He'd rather all the NATO countries print it for him.

I could be wrong.  But I doubt it.

They can align themselves with whomever they please.  It doesn't take NATO membership to align; there are many ways to do it.

ETA: Chile should warn the Chinese ship captains, and then warn them again.  Third warning sinks a ship.  Word will get around.

Word on the street is that this is part of a much larger plan to bring the Brits to the negotiating table regarding the Malvinas.

Can't hurt...

It would help keep China out.
It would drive Chile to join, which would help even more.

It might irritate the brits. But Falklands weren't covered by the charter (neither is Hawaii, technically).

LOL, no.

Aside from their stupid claims to the Falklands, they have ongoing border disputes with Chile.

Forging stronger ties within the Americas, and with Argentina in particular, is in the best interests of the US ... but Argentina has no business in NATO, ignoring the not so minor fact that it is wildly outside of charter.

Me too. Have a friend in Mendoza and an open invite to visit.
Argentina purchased 24 F-16's from Denmark just a couple of days ago, he is quite excited about it, never seen one IRL.
