Washington State is so liberal that it probably wasn't a malfunction, it's just that her legal 3 round mag ran out of ammo.

Her self preservation skills were extremely poor.

#1 If you just had a gun pointed at you but your instinct is to lay down and cry, you're gonna have bad time.

#2 Segregate yourself from known persons with low I.Q and low impulse control.

Seriously. The girl had a gun to her and when she fell down, she started crying, instead of GTFO. This doesn't excuse the murderer, but her survival was within her reach.

I was kind of surprised that a small group didn't rush up and start curb stomping the victim, once it was determined that said victim wasn't a threat.

People were always that way. With social media you just see more of it if you live a sheltered life.

Did we always have these huge populations of homeless and substance addicted people, too? Curious where they were all hiding until the last 10 years.

Societal rules, require a society with morals and a culture of understanding right from wrong.

Moral and just societies require consequences for actions that are unacceptable.

Someone speculated earlier in the thread, that because the shooter kept saying “how long, how long”, the victim may have been having a relationship with the shooter’s boyfriend.

I didn’t see anything like that in the article about the shooting, however.

I went to San Francisco as far back as the mid 1990s as a kid, the last time I went was about 8 years ago.  It always had some homeless people, but the city has really gone to hell more recently, along with so many others, Portland, Seattle, Reno.  Those are just cities I’ve been to at least once before which have seen a sharp decline.

it's a question of scale. It seems we are into an order of magnitude larger problem than 50 years ago and it is only increasing.

10 bums/junkies in a 10 square mile area vs 100 or even 1000.

I don’t disagree, but pretending it’s a new problem is silly.  Hell, Times Square is actually cleaner than it was 20 years ago (still a wretched hive of scum and villainy, though).

This shit has been going on for generations.  Blame LBJ, he let them sit on their asses and subsidized their lives with our money.

Idle hands are tools of the devil and all that.

I watched the neighborhoods on the south side of Chicago go bad. Know how it happened? CHA and HUD would move low income families onto blocks, called it block breaking.  Bad shit would start happening and then everyone would start moving out and they would buy up more property.

Yeah.  Many, many, many years ago my company had offices near Gunspoint mall.  One of the first times I ever saw a police substation inside a shopping mall.  No idea if it's still there, but either way it doesn't seem to have done much for the area.  I'm just glad the closest I ever get to that area is at freeway speeds on the way to the airport, and even that is rare.
