My tired 855.
I need to rebuild it.
Previous owner did not secure the air filter and dusted the motor.
Lot's of blow by and very low compression.
Still runs but requires the block heater to warm the engine and extended cranking.
Once running it mows just fine.
Needs a front loader.

Catawba Attachments makes one now that is damn near identical to the EA.

I filled mine with concrete....think I used 7.5 60 lb bags....so including the weight of the box, I think I'm close to 600 lbs. Totally different tractor with the ballast box (in a good way).

I also turned up my hydraulic pressure.

Same here, filled it with crete.  Easiest and cheapest way to add weight, even if it ain't pretty.  Sucks one of your welds is cracking.

I haven't messed with my hydraulic pressure yet.  I'm fighting the urge to modify or tune this like a bike, quad, vehicle.

My grapple is one of my favorite implements, and I had the dealer add the 3rd SCV kit specifically for it.  So much easier to cut firewood now.

How big is the bucket?  How many full buckets to fill an 8' PU bed?

A neighbor was fixing his driveway pavers and had his tractor out for moving sand and tamping them dowm.  Kubota I think and a step down in size from yours.  He said it was the best purchase he'd made in a long while.  I think he put his lawn in with it.

lol. Ive followed that thread from the beginning. Seems like good stuff, wonder if any got burned at the end with the pay and wait deal they used.
In my weight range their grapple was no lighter and was more expensive plus the pay and wait thing, but i was really wanting to get one of the wicked 55’s and test it out on the ctl.

No.  There are a pile of attachment companies in NC. Construction attachments, Catawba attachments, Carolina attachments, CID, etc.  All of them appear to make excellent products.

@boolzi
Catawba attachments makes one that’s almost identical to the EA.  https://cattachments.com/product-category/front-end-attachments/

Ted had a spending problem as well as a screwing people over problem.  Ted inherited the business and effectively ran it into the ground.  He did make great attachments.. but so do a myriad of other US companies, specifically those in NC. There are rumors going around here that someone is in the process of purchasing the business and assets.. not sure how true that is.

That 55” rake grapple looks a lot like the wicked series, also with the hardox. Interesting.

Playing with rocks.

The great thing about using a chain over the straps I used to use is I don't even have to get down to get the chain back.  Set the rock down, tension comes off, maybe jiggle around a bit and the chain comes free.

They are related somehow I seem to remember.

I saw it answered no above.

Regardless mine has been perfect. I recommend getting one. I still use my bucket sometimes but the grapple stays in place more often than not.

I prefer the 2 clamp style like I have. For odd shaped and tapered stuff if keeps a better hold.

If anyone gets a Kubota, get Top and Tilt, a grapple, cruise control and the upgraded rear sway links. My Cousin has a 4 way bucket on his but I prefer the grapple + bucket. He can't grab the same size logs I can.

Ford had some ugly tractors after their 600 and 800 series from the '50s and '60s.

Also, that last photo is terrific.

The great thing about using a chain over the straps I used to use is I don't even have to get down to get the chain back.  Set the rock down, tension comes off, maybe jiggle around a bit and the chain comes free.

With the cut out in it, it bights what it is wrapped around.

Idea shamelessly stolen from here:  https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/danuser-intimdator.452274/post-6293771

Can also do bushes.  Where before, you might have to wrap a couple of times to prevent the chain from slipping the pipe cutout grabs and holds.

Small poplar and the only one within range at the time.

Tractors and welders go together like biscuit and gravy.  You need a welder.

This has turned into an epic thread!  Lots of awesome ideas that have my wheels turning.

I have today off so it meant tractor time this morning!

My pallet forks are without a doubt my most used implement.  I use them for everything.  I have been reclaiming my property from mother nature and I cut down a shitload of saplings this morning.  Here is a pic with a big brush pile on the forks ready to be moved.  A grapple would definitely simplify this even more but the forks still make it damn easy.

Keep those pics and ideas coming!

I collect the mulch and dump it in ruts on our roads.

Some of today's playing with rocks.

My back is sore.

Also, no wonder there are rock walls every 87 feet in this state.

Ended up filling this one after this pick and then grabbing a bunch more larger rocks.
