"An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it." Jeff Cooper That doesn't read like Cooper, ending with a preposition. It's accurate and in "Cooper on Handguns". For the context - "Man is often defined as "the tool-bearing animal." Weapons are the tools of power. In the hand of the state, they can be the tools of decency or the tools of oppression, depending on the righteousness of that state. In the hands of criminals, they are the tools of evil. In the hands of the free and decent citizen, they should be the tools of liberty. Weapons compound man's power to achieve whatever purpose he may have. They amplify the capabilities of both the good man and the bad and to exactly the same degree, having no will of their own. Thus, we must regard them as servants, not masters -- and good servants of good men. Without them men is diminished, and his opportunities to fulfill his destiny are lessened. An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it. This book will examine one particular form of weapon -- the handgun. The handgun is an interesting artifact, and its mastery is a notable accomplishment. Those who master it achieve a peculiar satisfaction, for they partake in some measure of one of the attributes of the gods -- the ability to point the hand and smite at a distance. This idea existed millennia before anyone ever saw a pistol. So it must be an innate human aspiration, independent of technology. It is obviously the basis of the pleasure we take in pistol craft. As the handgun has no evil of its own, it has no skill of its own; however, in a master's hands, its efficiency is almost unbelievable. As with all instruments, it is the man, not the tool, that makes the difference. The more subtle the tool, the greater the difference. Skill with a shovel makes less difference than with a violin. The handgun lies somewhere between..." |

View Quote I saw one of these in the wild once. At Walmart. The guy was cowboyed up with Stetson, boots, denim pants and western shirt. Was OC-ing a stainless 1911 in a tooled leather holster on a matching tooled leather belt. Even had a handlebar mustache. He thought he looked like a Texas Ranger, all dolled up like that. |

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.

In before, "Honors Student Shot for Shoplifting" headlines.
Re OP, Did the store go on lock down after the shooting? How long did it take for you to get out of there? A few years ago I was on the scene of a Walmart post shooting. It was the basic scenario; one group of urban yutes felt they were disrespected by another, gun fight at the entrance and exit. Two combatants were wounded. No regular people were hurt if I recall. People were running all over the place. The parking lot and access roads turned into a smash up derby. Store went into lock down. Customers were stuck there for hours while police did interviews. People weren't even allowed to go to the bathroom. It was a complete cluster. I were ever in that situation, I would head for an alternate door away from the main entrance. I would get off property ASAP and find alternate transportation. I'd come back later for my vehicle. |

View Quote Don't think they're was any kind of extended lockdown. They had the front entrances blocked shortly after but i think they just cleared the store and moved on. We weren't there when it went down but were heading there when i saw the sea of blue lights. Once SLED finishes up I'm sure there will be more details. |

A secured bond was set at $5,000. There was no danger to the public. How does one get charged with going armed to the terror of the public but there was no danger to the public? Interdasting |

View Quote I don't see a thumb break holster being a real retention holster. I do have one of the famous Jackass thumb break holsters from the 80's for a 1911, I need to find it. Unfortunately, I don't think it will accommodate a railed 1911. |
