When black bike week ran at Myrtle Beach, a lot of local owned restaurants just closed for the entire week. They lost a lot less money being closed, than they would lose from all the "eat and runs". Payment for food and services was definitely optional for a lot of that crowd.

I mean...Kids/Young Adults do stupid for a living. Not really a surprise.
If it were a Slipknot festival at the beach,...seems unlikely but if there was and the crowd acted similarly it would not be racist to have an increased police presence to hold goers accountable for there actions. No racism here given the history of the event. Looks like basically a pop up festival with unscheduled activities with young people. What could go wrong. |

When I lived on the beach the business owners stopped catering to black events. At one time there was a "black bike week" but the problems that arose didn't justify the money so chamber stopped advertising it as did most of the bars and hotels.
Now that being said I did know quite a few cops up in Fayetteville NC that would take time off to go to black bike week in Daytona to work security. IIRC they were getting paid $50/ hr working at 7-11's etc…to stop shop lifting and other petty theft. Big money 20 years ago for a cop. |
