I haven't been in Horry County since 2007.  Won't go back, ever.  Closest I'll get to there is the Buccee's in Florence(filled with people headed to dirty myrtle) or Society Hill(racing all weekend).  Haven't been to Pedro's in a while either.

When I lived at the beach most of the local restaurants would close during the rich and vibrant events and post signs in the windows that said the management went on a family vacation that happend to be the same duration as the vibrant beach break.  YMMV.

I also learned to go check out the mountains or a TX/OK rodeo during that event every year.  Fuck that noise.

I expect those in the future, in the city next to mine. After last years black spring break there, complete with murders, shots fired at the police, shootouts, high speed pursuits. They handled it differently this year and actually started enforcing some laws, the cries of racism started immediately.

Not sure what the highlights of this year were. I know there was one major injury from a chick twerking on the roof of a car as it was going down the highway.

The Rape of the United States.

Made possible by demoncrats.

When people used to face harsh consequences for crime, it didn't take over civilized areas.

No laws, no civilization.

I'm sure this is an isolated incident.

As I remember it wasn't a negative approach but rather they just stopped advertising. Also a little beach bar, right around the corner from where I lived , used to close for renovations during that week. That was pretty common for other bars as well. I think it took a few years and eventually that "event" lifted and shifted to another beach.

I never saw much of the shenanigans but I also don't hang out out in bars all that much.  As I understand it there just were tons of fights, walk-outs on tabs, bitching about the tab, and so on…not worth the ass pain for the bars I suppose.

One of my daughters currently has a side gig bartending at a comedy club. She dreads black comedians that draw a black crowd….always issues…e.g. someone will order a LI Ice tea and she'll explain 2 or 3 times that it costs $35…First they'll get aggressive that she's inferring that they don't have money and then when it comes time to pay they'll refuse saying no one told them it was $35 for a drink. This is every night when these shows are at the club.

In their defense though the club is within walking distance of public housing so it attracts a certain demographic for certain shows  It's just tiresome and she generally has stopped working these shows. Not worth the hassle. .

I think you missed something. Hint: water temp may not have been a factor.

In 1990 I went on spring break in Daytona.

In spite of it being Biker Week AND Black Students week simultaneously,
all was peaceful  as far as I can remember.

Happened frequently in Panama City Beach wile we were living there before the crackdown. Get  them together in a small, medium or large group anywhere/anytime and the result is always the same. It got really bad in Daytona before they ran them off and over to Panama City Beach. The problem is enacting ordinances and restrictions to deal with it without being sued for racism.

You wouldn't find clarence or larry or anyone like them out there doing that crap, and they're the same "race."

Seems like there's a meaningful difference that has nothign to do with "race."

ETA: because clearly, that many methbillies in the same place wouldn't cause trouble, right?

Talk about some seriously dangerous rose colored glasses that can get you pummeled for being ignorant.   IIRC there's places in england that are whitey-mc-white as snow where they have feral kids who behave the same and will make you just as dead just as fast.

but hey, if you think they wouldn't do it because race...

ETA2: to make the obvious obvious - directed at people who think the way you look and your parents control your personal decisions in life.

I think they called it black college reunion (BCR) back when it was in Daytona Beach.  It got run off just like spring break after the lawlessness overwhelmed the PD.

Race Fans and Bikers seem to be preferred as they actually spend money while in town.
