There was another restaurant kiosk that opened right next to it, The Brine Box, but not sure if it's still open. The people own at least another place here too.
Didn't a BBQ joint just open out there as well?

Not that I'm aware, but sometimes I'm out of the loop on shit down there even though I ride my bike all the time along the strand.

I get that. but if the restaurant isnt even burned down and I'd assume it started there. but the entire deck area / pier is burning and smoldering.

just seems like there would be a lot more damage to the building before it spread all the way out.

also would assume thats some pretty thick wood the deck is made of and wet from the ocean  so wouldn't easily catch on fire? what do I know ive never been there....

I am in Los Angeles, and there is a significant homeless/unhoused population in the SD area, I bet those folks were cooking the closed building. In the past homeless/unhoused people was responsible for a huge conflagration in the San Gabriel Mtns. Any abandoned buildings should have paid security guards etc to keep unauthorized people out.

Back in the stone age when I was there everything South of Pendleton used to be considered "San Diego" including Carlsbad (where I got to live off base ) Oceanside, Solana Beach (Diegos ... good times), etc.  Anything South of San Diego, was Mexico and therefore verboten and very off limits by order of the base commander. Just sayin'

it disperses the water instead of dropping a ton+ of water on one spot. It would crush the building.

The wood is sun baked and higher up than the water. There are pipes and electric that run under the wood too.

That aircrane carries 2650 gallons of water. At 8.33 pounds per gallon, thats just over 22,000 pounds of water if they drop it all at once.

As I posted when he replied, yeah, if you're not from here or familiar with the area it's all "San Diego" and I even tell people not familiar with the area I live in San Diego when they ask, but if you're from around here or know the area, all the cities are referred to by their names.   Or the general area (oside, Carlsbad, vista, San Marcos, Esco, Fallbrook, Encinitas) will be referred to as North San Diego County.

The running joke of the time was San Diego would pay for the Marines to stay at Pendleton just to keep the riff-raff up north from coming down.

Why isn’t there a fire boat there???
Park it close and pump all the ocean you freaking need onto those fires.

This is NOT rocket science.

ETA. Saw HDLSs post. Good for the Coasties.

SDFD should have a dedicated fireboat though, or the Port Authority. Or the freaking Navy.
Should be several lines on it.
