Nothing good about it.

Someone had a mental break and was put down like a dog. No one here is immune.

If the fatass cop had been smarter and in better shape it would have been a better outcome.

Exactly.
It's never where you hit, but what you hit. Then your opponent takes time to react.
Transecting the CNS is the ONLY way to force someone to stop. A hit(or hits) anywhere else just starts a countdown timer until their blood pressure drops low enough that they pass out or give up. If you slice a man's throat from ear to ear, completely severing the internal and external carotid arteries it can take up to ten seconds for him to lose consciousness. Bullets rarely do that much damage.
How many shots can be fired in a few seconds, either by you or him? The average person can easily fire four shots per second, not with great accuracy, but at the conversational ranges that deadly force encounters most often occur at, it doesn't take much.

Fortunately close to half of all people shot will voluntarily quit, known as a "psychological stop". Another very significant percentage will faint due to psychogenic shock, the sudden loss of blood pressure from major blood vessels relaxing momentarily, the classic "bad news faint". Upon hitting the ground, most of these instantly regain consciousness.
Both of these can, and often do, result from a wound anywhere of any severity. This applies to people in a normal physiological and psychological state.
It goes downhill from there.

Shooting too fast and/or filling someone up with lead is sometimes an unfortunate byproduct of shooting at them like they're a flat piece of paper. You must visualize the vital structures in a 3d structure and place rounds there. This requires a somewhat musteline attitude coupled with a cool head, and a certain measure of skill.
Like so many things in life, easier said than done.

A mental breakdown doesn’t allow you to attack a police officer.

Swinging pretty large branches at the officer shows a will to do more.

I agree that maybe a tazer could have been used but these are split second decisions.  I don’t really fault the officer for pulling the gun out.

Do agree he needed a few less trips to Dunkin.

From the mans history it is quite clear under normal circumstances he would not have attacked the officer. No, the cop didn't know that but ........

Walking up on someone obviously not in their right mind then grabbing a tree branch the prudent thing would have been to keep a safe distance because Deputy Fife is not going to talk them out of their state. There was only going to be one outcome but gee, the cruiser would have made a nice buffer, ya think.

Meanwhile backup arrives, the assailant is disarmed by less than lethal means and everyone goes home or to the psyche ward.

Every problem is not a nail hence why there needs to be better protocols and training with mental encounters rather than creating unnecessary fatal outcomes out of ignorance.

The Rambo comments would take a different tone if it was their child who absorbed a full mag under the same circumstances.

That’s leftist speak. Any violent idiot that attacks a cop with a large wooden pole deserves to be deaded. Guy was probably a bully and people he interacted with on a daily basis are probably living happier lives now.

Hitler was a skilled painter and was a well liked leader by many, neither of those are hardly defining positive characteristics. Any scumbag's obit is proof people don't like to speak ill of the dead.

This dude drove head on at someone else and intentionally hit another car and then was attacking people after he crawled out of the wreckage. He was put down and rightfully so. This deputy went above and beyond to not shoot this guy and waited way longer to shoot him than many other cops would have.

But people who don't know shit always gotta put their two cents in.

Contrary to what your television sets tell you, the vast majority of people do not die immediately after being impacted by bullets. There are a few spots that will shut her down, immediately, but it's not like you're aiming for them when it's go time.

This story delineates this truth perfectly:
why one cop carries 145 rounds

Fact is, he was deranged, and violently attacking someone who had superior weaponry which displayed his  intent to do the officer harm as he was not deterred by the officer’s drawn firearm. I’ll put this in no uncertain terms for you. He got what he deserved. Now run a long back to DU.

Your friend is full of shit, or his agency is retarded.

So if someone has a hostage and they are using the hostage as s shield, do they just walk away because they cant take a head shot?

When little johnny whose mommy and daddy didn't pay enough attention to him, is at school shooting all of his classmates, and the cops only have a head shot, do they just let him keep killing people?

A local around here walked into either a DV or home invasion (cant remember which). Dude was on top of a female stabbing her in the face and neck with a broken piece of glass. Head shot was what was available. Game over for bad guy. Cop was a hero.

The officer must have not to been paying attention when “2 in the chest and 1 in the head” was discussed in class.

The topic of depressurization of the cardiovascular system vs a CNS (central nervous system) hit is important to achieving the goal of destroying the enemy’s will to fight.

Yup, I went down a similar hole and IIRC it alluded to that he was gaslit/drugged into committing suicide by cop. Wearing the unit tshirt was somehow intentional as well.

Lol. He was shooting a .45 ACP in this video. There are plenty of other stories just like this, including a bad guy taking 14 rounds of .45 to the chest and still participating in the gunfight.
