It's a cautionary tale imo. Not getting a sandwich isn't an emergency but not being able to buy gasoline could be. Every grown man should have a little emergency cash in his pocket at all times.

I have seen it many times with cc systems going down. I prefer cash because I don't like being tracked.

Lots of that shit here.

Not sure what drives someone to run to a board to start a thread  about something less than insignificant.

Guys, I saw someone run a stop sign today.  This nation is going to shit!

Cash is legal tender. I always have some on me.
We have had power outages twice in two days. Cash talks, cards walk.

I’m not one to post-count shame, but 8k posts in 1 year is pretty impressive for someone who only makes time to share significant content. I’ll bet most of those were spent arguing. If you’re a Millennial, there is still time to stop before you end up like nacho cheese guy.

I keep cash at the house, hidden in my car, and on my person. It's come in handy more than a few times. Usually during power / internet outages. It also allowed me to pounce on a few good gun deals from individuals.

So perfectly normal, well-adjusted people fling poop 8K times a year in political threads but they don’t start threads about light-hearted GD generational banter. That’s a pretty advanced cope.

I usually carry around $500 on me.
If travelling several thousand is not out of the question.
My cash is never in my wallet.
Usually in one of the cargo pockets of my 5.1.1 pants.
I have had a debit  and credit cards since 1986.
I also have my cards loaded onto my iPhone wallet so I can also tap to pay when available.

Technology is not infallible which is why I carry cash at all times.

I don't think that is the real reason.

When I asked at places like ticketing at school sporting events, cafeterias, and the like that have been transitioning away from cash to plastic only, the main reason I was given was they don't want to do cash for security reasons.  They don't want opportunities for theft from the outside or from the inside that comes with cash.  Some people are just too tempted when around/handling cash...

When I was in high school, my Spanish teacher would talk about his surfing excursions to Mexico. His advice was to keep modest amounts of money in different places around the car, so when the policia stop you, you can say “this is all I have.”

I recently told some youngster cashier that I was not going to finance a cup of coffee (or whatever petty thing I was buying). The place didn't take cash. She looked at me like "finance?". I said, yeah I'm not taking a loan for a cup of coffee. You know a credit card is a loan, right. (Deer in the headlights).

Yeah, pay the CC in full every month, I get it bro. But the point remains.

I carry cash because it makes many situations so much easier. And it makes me a better tipper, too. $7 purchase, round up to $10 bill. OMG! That's 43%. And petty cash. And friendly.
