I absolutely believe that because they staffed the TC gun portion of the company with some of the absolute dumbest motherfuckers I have ever dealt with.  Marty from Haus of Arms is the guy that kept me out of a straight jacket back then when it came to Contenders.  I only like old "G1" guns so I was always needing some part or another or I'd order a barrel and it would come with the wrong extractor...that type of shit.  Thank GOD for Marty!!!!!!

Gonna have to agree to disagree on that one, Holmes.  There is a cult following that rivals Scientology when it comes to Contenders and also TC Muzzle Guns.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a Contender/Encore fiend, myself.

I just have a weird feeling about this, especially if they have to retool and if Lehigh/SSK now owns the Contender design.
I've been in this industry for over 35 years. There's lot's of Cults (and I'm in more than just the TC one if you count 32 ACP, 10mm, 41 Magnum, P7, AUG, etc.) but they ebb and flow.

I hope they do extremely well, but going back to your first point about their employees under S&W. Their marketing people hounded the magazines to get stories on them. I did this one and 2 others with my personally owned guns, fuckers never had anything to send out:

I did this for Gun Digest, cool seeing my own gun/photo as a cover shot.

Good point, the 30-30 is 10” so it will probably go, I have some .22 jet reloads, once those are gone it will probably go.  Also have a .223 so the .222 will go.

A Super 14" 6.8 barrel sounds cool as hell. I think MGM used to offer 6.8spc barrels at one time. You can order custom chamberings of common bore sizes. A .270 bore is a common offering at MGM, or at least used to be. I ordered a 14" 30-30 years ago and saw 6.8spc barrels offered. Should have gotten one at that time.

Shoots a 12 gauge from what looks like 300 yards out-"That wasn't even close! You've never shot a big bore before?"

Anyone who calls a 12 gauge a bigbore is probably carrying birdshot too.

I have one I had cut down to 12.5" and threaded. If I had to pare down to one single firearm it might be it.

It's a SPC chamber 1/10 twist IIRC but I have ran plenty of SPCII level ammo through it without issue.

About 30 years ago I watched a guy shoot a Contender in 45-70. I did not understand them back then and after watching that fireball and blast I was like what's the point. Now, 30 years later I would love to have a Contender in smaller cartridge as I now appreciate them for what they are.

T/C Compass was the topic of my only semi-memorable thread on Arfcom.  I reviewed a .300 Win Mag Compass when they were selling them for $198 after the rebate.

My question was:  could it really shoot sub-MOA for that price?  And yes - yes the Compass really was a sub MOA rifle.

T/C have always been masters of machining.  Their tolerance-control in making Contender and Encores with interchangeable barrels is rarely matched in the industry.  Just amazing.  And made right here in the USA to boot.

With the Compass, they leveraged nitriding technology to the extreme and paired it with their accurate but affordable barrels and a smart 3-lug bolt for a gun that punches way above its cost.

Hope they come back with every line of gun, from muzzle loaders to Encores to Compass rifles and beyond.
