No, I can't think of the actress that played Detective Fish's wive, but it wasn't Bea Arthur.

Fish's wife Bernice was played first by Doris Belack and later by Florence Stanley.

OK, in 'ALL in the family', the neighbors were the' Jeffersons', Edith's cousin was' Maude'. Both were spinoffs. Although 'Archie Bunker's place' was another.

'Mary Tyler Moore's' friend was 'Rhoda', and subsequently 'Phyllis'. Both were spinoffs.

Only spinoff of 'Barney Miller' I recall was 'Fish'.

The fact remains that she was brilliant, talented, and gave the world a hundred million smiles over the years.

She was good at what she did and was very successful at it. Probably more successful than any of the armchair commandos and opinionated Keyboard Kings posting about her will ever be.
For that, she deserves my repect, and she sure as hell has it.
