The LaRue website said this was a private run created for and only available through LaRue. mfingar said last night that they were talking about expanding the UDE line. He also said LaRue will be carrying more Magpul stuff soon.
With that said, I would love to buy some UDE Pmags. |
UDE is a special run for LaRue and currently they are the ones who will be selling it. |
From the Larue email: Howdy y'all, Straight from Texas, this is the answer to the big question of late. ;^) Folks have been wanting another color choice for our fuggin' FUGs, so we came up with one that's all our own. UDE -Urban Dark Earth (tm). Them dang Magpul boys yanked up their bootstraps and helped us "git 'er done". M. LaRue LaRue Urban Dark Earth ... The perfect compliment to the new ACU pattern. Available only as a complete set, this kit provides everything needed to convert your favorite rifle to our new Urban Dark Earth.. UDE is a subtle cross between FDE and Foliage Green. Magpul matched our spec, and created a private run of CTR's, MOE grips, and XTM Panels exclusively for us. Set Includes: - LaRue F.U.G., with all three cap lengths - Magpul Mil-Spec CTR Stock - Magpul MOE Pistol Grip - Magpul XTM Rail Panels, 12 sets So if you read that email, what IS your question? |
If you read his OP he was wondering why there is no UDE Pmag to go with the set. It is kinda silly not to have Pmags in that color as well, since they are only doing it for a limited time anyway. |
Only silly until you know the reasons why. The PMAG has to go through the same regiment of testing in any new color. We'll see in the future. |
I understood that this a LaRue special, right now. I was curious if Magpul would offer it as a color option sometime in the future, about PMag availablity, and just to get their take on the topic. Just for general knowledge, weren't you guys curious? I think its an awesome color, and I understand if LaRue wants to keep it as their own personal scheme. Just more great products from two great companies that make their respective products better than anyone in the world. This is a new developement in the Magpul world, this is the Mappul forum. What better place to ask about. What the F*CK is your problem? |
I have been avoiding a "two-tone" AR ever since we had the option to get away from black.
I have a full railed rifle 16" sitting naked waiting to be dressed. I am drooling. |
I like it, i've always thought FDE was too light.
I would still like it even darker, but hey that's just me. |
Of course. It's the best color in my AO.
See, I'm not the only one. I have to bring it up every once in a while. TS |

I have noticed that that is just how Lumpy196 tends to respond to people. What-ev. |
Yep, just Lumpy's way of showin' the love. |
Congrats to Magpul for hooking up with LaRue with this, I think it's an excellent idea. Thanks guys!!
It's his charm and wit. |

Monitor renditions suck, but I've go to believe that within Duracoat's Tactical color and Standard color line, there's close match. For those of you that just gotta have this but aren't members.
Maybe the Gray-Green or Extreme Gray? (God, I Luv that word "EXTREME") And then the Std Color Palette (Maybe colors 75 or 76, ACU Gray-Green or ACU Dark Gray-Green?) |
I believe mfingar also said they were working to get UDE added to the duracoat line. |
That is correct, A DuraCoat match of UDE is in the works...and then I'll share my dark lettering technique with the world (I promise). |
UDE ACR is actually growing on me. At the very least, the Army would go nuts for it.
I'll be fine with a FDE/Coyote version for us, thanks! |
Okay, maybe I'm just blind, but I don't see the difference between the FDE and UDE. Does anyone have a side by side picture of the two?
I hope they will sell the UDE XTMs separately soon, as I believe they would be a good way for people to see if they like the color without spending a ton of cash.
Hmmm. |
How about at least UDE baseplates/ranger plates on black Pmags...at least give a little color matching/pop! |
Now there's a thought. |
There is a reason everyone has switched to FG and FDE, its the color you are going to make if you want a shot at MIL contracts. That doesn't make other colors bad, its just not going to turn them into a .mil issue. On a slightly different note, if you are looking at long term military color concepts, there are some interesting ideas being pursued that look like they may be bringing all MIL uniforms back into line with each other, which I think would be a good thing. |
Do I get a deal on a UDE kit for the idea? But seriously though, I think UDE baseplates, ranger plates, and magpuls would be the way to go. Looks like you're already using black MIAD/MOE grip cores anyways...black mags with UDE accessories would look tits! Also what about UDE coated BUIS? |
Nice! |
If you read the whole thread you would have known that the answer is a diffinitive maybe. lol. more options is always better but personally I prefer FDE. purely on the koolaid side.
hopefully some interchangeable parts of the ACR come in this UDE color as a sort of limited run or something.
Oh one can only hope. The ABU abortion for the Air Force needs to go. I still work on post but I'm glad I got out before that fiasco struck. The ACU has its own set of problems but speaking from a solely functional standpoint is the best of what's out there in terms of utility. |
That would be a good thing! Except the camo pattern of the ACUs stinks. My being a Marine aside, it would please me if all services standardized on the two MARPATs but kept whatever style/fucntional aspects they prefer for their respective uniforms. Agree with you on the ABUs. I work on an AFB and those things are hideous. Not to mention, the cut is just a BDU cut with a few very minor changes- calf pocket on the legs is the only real one I've seen so far. Haven't seen the new Navy uniforms, but expect they'll be equally as worthless as ABUs. |
Roger that! (but then I haven't seen UDE in person yet...) |
Coyote Brown Vltor and XT's? TS |
SSeric-
I like the ACU cut and that's about where it stops. The pockets and function of the uniform is great. When I was still in and the ABU was being developed all the ground troops begged for sleeve pockets and velcro. So, what we got was a bunch of our senior NCO's not wanting to shrink down their huge chevrons to fit on the pocket and senior officers who didn't like velcro and office workers conducting the bulk of wear tests. But, they have I think it is eight pen/pencil pockets though. Sweet. What ever happened to the Land Warrior program going with the multicam? I think they absorbed teh ACU pattern into whatever is left of it since it get canned. Is there some other way to get off topic from UDE colors?! |
The ACU/AUC was tossed? TS |
multicam was being pushed for the land warior stuff but when the ACU pattern was adopted I think land warrior was going that way too. Since the program is on hold, or canx'd or whatever they list it as now I don't know the status of any of it. ACU's are going to be around for awhile as far as I know. |
