Hello there. I've acquired a .22 Walther AR with a flattop receiver, and I'm interested in a good quality red dot scope to match the rifle.
Somebody else here is sporting a Vortex Strikefire on his Walther AR .22, and I guess it's a good balance between quality and price. Problem is, I'm in Italy. What source would you guys at Vortex suggest for acquiring the scope? Thanks! |

He is our international sales rep and could tell you if we have a distributor that can sell to you. His email is [email protected]. Thanks! -Sam |

Got the StrikeFire sighted in on my Sig-522. Seems to work great so far! Accurate and easy to see in daylight conditions. I got a lot of questions at the range about both the rifle and the optic. It looks so much "meaner" than a plain old .22cal. One of the RO's shot it then he wrote down the name "Vortex StrikeFire". He said he's been looking for a decent red-dot for his RRA AR-9mm.
Anyway, the "ghosting" issue I mentioned on 3/27 is not a problem under bright outdoor light. Still curious if that's a design trait or a quality issue unique to my StrikeFire. Either way, I'm really enjoying my new toy. So glad it's on the .22, so I can afford to blast away and really have fun with it! Scott G. WA-USA |

Basically it looks like the dot is in the middle of a foggy spot on the lens. It is brand new and obviously the lenses are all clean, so is this normal? My trusty old Truglo doesn't do that. As long as you keep the intensity of the dot low you can't see it. Also, the brighter the ambient light, the less noticeable the "ghosting". Should I expect this and just deal with it or do you think I need to call Vortex? If it's an inherent quality of this product I can probably work around it and be happy. But if it's not supposed to do that I probably would prefer to have it taken care of. Just picked one up and mine is doing the same, anything above the bottom 3-4 intensity settings and I start getting ghosting almost like a cross. Didn't know if mine got banged around or something? Thanks, Joel |

Does anyone know or has tried if a La Rue LT150 mount will fit a vortex? It should since it's a 30mm tube right?

Thanks, Joel It sounds to me like you're seeing flaring from the dot being turned up too bright. This is a phenomenon I've noticed on all red dots I've looked through. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're describing. If you're concerned about it please call our customer service at 1-800-426-0048 and they will be sure to take care of you. -Sam |

Just started looking at the Strikefire. I see two models, the red & green and the red only. What are the differences beside the obvious, red only? Is the red only brighter, a 2 moa, just asking and thanks in advance for the information.

Other than that, they are the same. Hope this helps! If you think of any other questions please let us know. Thanks! -Sam |

Awesome. I was looking for an Aimpoint alternative to build a Blood Diamond/32 battalion A2 carbine. Searched around for red dots, found the Vortex StrikeFire on http://www.opticsplanet.net/vortex-strikefire-red-dot-scopes-ar15-hunt.html
and then on http://www.tactical-store.com/ts-vx-rd-sf-br.html and then checked SWFA for StrikeFire and found them there. And then I googled "vortex strikefire ar15.com" and found this thread. Looks like I'll be ordering one soon. |

Great review, glad to see Vortex taking care of their customers. I have decided to get a StrikeFire and was just curious what QD mounts allow for the absolute co-witness?

Hey Sam. Are there any plans to develop a quick release or canitlever mount for the Strikefire for a reasonable price?

Thanks! -Sam Is there a difference in battery life between the red vs the red/green? What is the battery life for each? There is a little difference. Not only between the red/green version and the red only, but there is also a difference between using red or green on the red/green model. Hopefully I didn't word that too confusing! Anyway, here are the specs on each: Red Only Model 6-hour auto-shutdown feature maximizes battery life. Typical battery life in normal mode of operation: 200 hours (maximum brightness), 5600 hours (minimum brightness). Typical battery life in night vision mode: 6800 hours (maximum brightness), 8000 hours (minimum brightness). Red/Green Model 6-hour auto-shutdown feature maximizes battery life. Typical battery life in normal mode of operation: Maximum brightness of 130 hours (Red) | 420 hours (Green); Minimum brightness of 4400 hours (Red) | 4700 hours (Green). Typical battery life in night vision mode: Maximum brightness of 7200 hours (Red) | 7200 hours (Green); Minimum brightness of 7600 hours (Red) | 8000 hours (Green). I thought I read somewhere that the newer versions of this sight have some type of protection around the on/off button to prevent it from being hit accidentally. Is this true?

It also has a feature where you have to hold the button in for about 5 seconds to turn it on or off. Sam |

I just got my Strikefire in from my local dealer (wife got it for me for Christmas). It was easy to mount and the co-witness base made it easy to rough site it in (duh, co-witness to irons). I can't wait to take it out and put it through its paces.

I love my Crossfire so much that I had to get a Strikefire.
Nice optic and fit my issue killflash just perfect. I don't really dig the lens covers however, but for the price point I can deal with them. It is nice that it includes a doubler but since it screws in I don't know how much I will use it. Overal a nice piece of kit. Thanks guys! |

just received my strikefire and i have a question that may sound stupid. Is this scope supposed to be viewed with one eye only? when i view w/ both eyes open, i see 2 dots in close proximity to one another. It makes it rather difficult to get a good sight picture at distant objects.
|
|
|
Many shooters prefer to shoot with red dot sights using both eyes open, but if this creates problems for you and closing one eye alleviates this, I would recommend closing one eye. Both methods are acceptable. |

ic. rather annoying as i have2020 vision. if it's troublesome, may i sent it back for readjustment?

You may send back the unit and we will be happy to have a look at it. If there is something wrong with the sight, we would be happy to correct it for you. However, please try different positions to see how that works and also confirm that you do not have an astigmatism. We can fix an error with the sight but if there is an astigmatism in the user's eye, there will not likely be a way that we can resolve a perceived issue. /thanks again and please let us know if you have any other questions.

Will this hold up to buckshot or slug recoil on a 12 gage?

I'd also like to know how it'll do on a shotgun. I recently picked up a 12 gauge and have a Strikefire sitting around. I bought it for an AR and then decided I didn't like the big dot, so I switched to a Sparc for that. However, on a shotgun the bigger dot should work well.
I'm curious as to what mount I should try as well, I've mostly seen suggestions of the rsregulate. |
|
|
Don't know how we missed this earlier but yes it is approved for 12 gauge. Thank you.
|
|
|
I would recommend a milspec picatinny rail for this just for strength/rigidity but the Weaver rail is also an acceptable mounting surface. Thanks and let us know if you have further questions. Thanks again.
