I am looking forward to seeing what you think about the 6940P, I am still tempted to get one for the collection. I think my post ended up in GD Teams which require membership. Anyhow, Guns.com had 2 listings for TradeIn LE Colt M4's. One was $999 and showed LE Tactical Carbine marked reciever, Troy Rail, Side Sling Swivel, and LE & Military Only Stamp on Reciever. The other one was a standard modern Cage Code stamped upper with M4 Carbine stamped lower. for $750+/-. I bought the $999 one, they shipped the $750 one. I didn't inspect before transfer. I was too trusting, and in a hurry, I know I screwed up. But I called them, explained, sent them an email at their request with photos and an detailed explanation. Five days later they told me they might take it back but it would cost me approximately $250 in shipping and restocking fees. So, I posted my story to caution others. I am not sure at this point if accepting the transfer or not would have made a difference with the restocking fees. They claim that I had no guarantee I would receive anything better than I received. As for the 6940P I am sorry to say that they are out of stock on their website and have one up for auction on GB already up to $1250 with 17 hours to go. Furthermore, I can only tell you this because as soon as I had a chance tonight to clean and do a detailed inspection of the rifle I went to their website to see if I could buy another before posting this. Sadly I could not. Whoever the armorer was took great care of these rifles. They have very little scuffs/scratches/marring, and only show honest wear. I genuinely wish I had purchased more than one and if the chance ever arises again I definitely will. Just in case anyone is wondering, yes, I did inspect the rifle before completing the transfer this time. Cheers! |

As far as the 6940P is concerned I am happy to hear the glowing report. I was watching the last two on GB and was surprised one went for over $1500 and the other was at $1250. This pushed me over the edge and I ordered the last one. BTW in my email confirmation of the order they mentioned they may have some more coming as well as some parts. |

I feel like these past couple years have been great for getting these trade ins. Tops out of all has really has been the police trade-in Diemaco/Colt Canada 6920. I was on the fence about it, and glad I saw you guys post the heads up here. Also got one of the trade-in Colt 727 kits that hit the market, and early on the prices weren't too bad (Apex seems to be listing quite high IMO, and they look rough). Both of those are in the Colt grey color, whereas the other 6920s I have picked up are all black.
I just checked Summit GB and they still have a number of police trade-ins there. |

Not sure it was worth my $446 after shipping & tax. Looks like it may have had a low pro gas block & rail installed at one time? Dimple on bottom of barrel near front sight & front sight tower pins sticking out on one side more than they should be. Barrel dates to 2013. Anyone know if this is a cutdown barrel? What about these barrel markings? Thanks. |

If it was cut down, it wouldn't have the markings centered between the flash hider and the FSB. The markings are good. The CB = Chrome Bore. They abbreviate that obviously because they can't fit the words in the space available. |

How many were sold to LE?
Spare piston parts would be nice. |

Originally Posted By DuneShoot: How many were sold to LE? Spare piston parts would be nice. View Quote There isn't a source for data of how many were sold on the LE market. From conversations I have had, I can say that the number sold in domestic LE and foreign LE/international markets are significantly higher than the 1500 made commercially available. Testing has shown that the piston design, while significantly higher cost to produce, did not offer a performance benefit over direct impingement..Thus, the LE6940P was discontinued. There are no spare parts available short of buying another LE6940P to salvage parts off of. To put my last statement in perspective, the LE6940P was born out of the prototypes submitted by Colt for the SOCOM SCAR program. SOCOM initially adopted the FN SCAR-Light instead of Colts submission. Even SOCOM, after a period of field use, determined that the SCAR- L did not offer a performance enhancement and was a more difficult platform to maintain. They dropped the SCAR-L and brought the Colt M4A1 back in service. They only kept the SCAR-H because they wanted to maintain a 7.62x51 capability. |

Bolt is MPC marked, but the carrier has no C that I could find. I think the stock has been replaced as it has a 4U486 cage code and it looks new. Barrel has 11/11 date code. The complete firearm is a gloss black color, which is different compared to any other Colt I have owned. Upper has a stamped C with a square forge mark. Also it has a H2 buffer, compared to my 6940 which has a H buffer. SN# is LP0012XX |

The Matech was used for a majority of the production run. Unfortunately, I don't have an idea of solid numbers. My best guess is that the Matech was used for about 3/4 or 5/6 of the production cycle. |

Aim has LE trade in “LE6920” Colts for $629 but they are marked “carbine” and have serial numbers starting with CR. Are those a good deal?

I would not use the photos AIM has posted in the ad as a true representation of what you will receive. Those pictures look like they are generic stock pictures. I would expect something older with true roll marks.

I received a brand new, never issued laser engraved, CR prefix , C marked BCG, Colt 6920. Police trades are always a roll of the dice. Sometimes that’s half the fun. For the price I paid I can not complain, but I always prefer the stamped roll mark receivers with patina.
