If yu see 6.8 on the shelf, grab it. The small quantities I've seen are selling for about 50% over MSRP.
Good luck. Steve/RRA |

You can buy all of the 6.8 ammo you want from Silver State Armory -silver state
All I need now is a RRA 6.8 upper |

Glad to see you on here.
I buy RRA lowers very regularly to sell in my shop. I've heard nothing but good things from my "build it myself" customers about RRA Lowers and LPK's. I'll continue to purchase through you. |

I know about silver state armory, but if I can find it local, its even better.

Just came back from scheels who had 4 boxes of 6.8 on the shelf. I cleared em out. . Picked up a Stripped RRA upper from my favorite gun shop today to begin my 6.8 project. I figure this way I can just swap the uppers onto my RRA lower for whatever I want to use the rifle for and still have the nice fit with both. I still could not find any .458 Socom though. Still the same look when I asked about it. I wonder if this may be a region thing because as popular as that stuff seems, I cannot find it anywhere around here. Does Cor-Bon have a link somewhere so I can see what the different loads are for this ammo? Or any type of link at all? I would like to see what the different loads are. My searches always turn up zilch.
Hit Corbon's web site, then into the online store. It's been awhile since I was there, but I think the 458s are listed with the hunting ammo.

Hi Steve!
Just found the RRA forum here! Neat, thanks for doing it. I'm the pain in the neck that you put the NM float tube in the mid-length for. I think we have talked on the phone before. Cheers, Phil |

Steve,
I just found the forum and like so many other members here, I am very happy to see Rock River Arms participate on Arfcom. I have 2 of your fine LAR-15 products. Having experienced the quality of your company's products, I will no doubt be a return customer. Thanks for joining our website! Big_Cheese P.S. This may be a dumb question, but is there any chance that RRA might ever have an offering chambered in the .50 Beowulf? |

Big Cheese,
No Beowulfs, but .458 SOCOM starting shortly. Steve/RRA |
Hmmmmmmmmm.... A .458 SOCOM upper huh? I asked about the Beowulf chambering mainly because I'm interested in using my LAR-15 for Deer/Bear hunting next season. I want an upper in a chambering suitable to that end. As far as available components are concerned, do you feel that there are more bullet styles available to the SOCOM? There are so many plusses involved with the AR's modular design, that would allow me to tailor one to meet my personal criteria as a big game hunter. There's an opportunity, I believe, with the many new cartridges available to the AR-15 platform to consider promoting it among big game hunters. Maybe RRA could make some special 4-round mags (or limit-type followers) for hunting in states with magazine capacity restrictions? What say you? |

Lots of variety in .458 bullets. In the SOCOM, I've seen everything from 250gr to 600gr. CorBon has three factory loads right now, and there maybe othermakers coming on-line soon.
The SOCOM fits approximately 1:3 to 223 , so a thirty round mag holds approximately 10 rounds, a twenty-round mag hols approximately 7 458s, and a ten round mag holds three or four, depending on the mag. Steve/RRA |

Hi I have a NM A2 and I have about 300 rounds through it, now I have that spring thwang sound everytime I fire it. What can I do to fix this problem.Love the gun but can't live with this sound.
You should always have that sound in an AR-style rifle...it's the buffer moving backwards into the action spring, collapsing the spring to it's collapsed length, and then rebounding forward. The rifle won't function without it. It;s a little more pronounced in a carbine extension than a rifle, but it's always there.

axle grease from walmart, coat your recoil spring and extension tube, sound disappears |

I am looking to get another AR and am looking at the Elite Car A4 and the Elite Car UTE2. Other than the rear sight system, is there a difference bewtween the two rifles? Which do you recomend? I am thinking about getting a Daniel Defense 9.5FSP and a winter trigger guard installed on the rifle. Can this be done at the factory when the order is placed. This will be a duty weapon primarily (Police). Do you recomend the chrome molly barrel or the chrome lined barrel? What is the difference between the standard A2 flash hider and the Smith vortex flash hider?
Only real difference is the upper receiver.
We can certainly install the parts as substitutions (for additional charges, please see our catalog or web site under the specific models) when we build the rifle. You would want to use a DD 9.5FSPM, as either rifle has a mid-length gas system. The A2 flash hider is your basic flash hider used for about twenty years. The Smith Vortex is a very innovative design that is both helically ported and turns gasses in on themselves (if I understand it the way Ron Smith explained it to me), virtually eliminating visible flash from the muzzle. i've just ordered my third personal AR, one of your carbine a4's with a some accerssories(a new rail, and the 6 pos buttstock that i was told would be put together at the factory before being sent). about how long does for the orders to arrive from your company? thanks
nevermind on the order time question, from reading the other posts it seems it will be quite awhile.
any idea on the leadtime those chromelined 20inchers? thanks
Probably July/August on CL 20"...they'll be listed in the July 2006 catalog.

RRAMODERATOR good to have you here! I am new to the AR scene and have heard nothing but good things about RRA. I am hoping to make a RRA AR as my first purchase when I return from Germany in september. I am intrested in .223 w/ a mid length grip and am wondering about the Elite CAR UTE2 and the Elite CAR A4. I had a chance to hold both @ the local shop. recomendations for a first time AR buyer?
Only real difference is the upper receiver and the mount on the A4. Becomes a matter of personal preference and intended usage. The A4 is more versatile, as you have an entire flat top receiver to work with, including for mounting magnifying optics...but the UTE-2 has a permanent rear sight and works great with red dots and others that use co-witness mounts.

Thanks, that really helps with the decision!!

I bought a new RRA Entry Tactical LAR-15, but I didn't get a manual yet. Do you have one in electronic format either online or that you can email to me?
Thanks, Jeff Roberts |
No I don't, but there are several decent manuals available right here on this site that would work.
Just for my curiosity, did you buy it as an assembled rifle complete with the blue case, etc ? I only ask because the manual is one of the packet with the manual, chamber flag, magazine, catalog,etc...is the last thing that goes inthe case, and we aren't forgetting it n very many at all...but we are still having a problem with persons assembling rifles from parts and claiming them to be factory guns. Thanks. Steve/RRA |

Hi Steve,
Ordered an Elite CAR A4 with stainless steel barrel, CAA sotck, and surefire handguard this week. About how long will it take to get this to my dealer (Pete at Legal Transfers)? Also, what are the chances of me getting a RRA decal for my tool chest? Does one come with the rifle like I got a sig decal when I bought my sig? Thanks! |

Hi Steve,
I bought a Entry Tactical about 2weeks ago. Shot it and love it. But I also didn't get a manual with it. Unless you count the military FM I got as your manual? Just wondering and if you want the name of the place I bought it I can give oyu that too. zdorf E-mail: [email protected] |
Couple answers in ine response:
The military manual os wehat we use as our manual....and is also available for down load off this site if you should ever misplace yours. Standard lead times on rifles are running approximately two-twelve weeks, with most running three to eight weeks at this time. Steve/RRA |
I ordered a barrel from the rock river arms website and called the phone number and talked to a guy about it, but I haven't gotten it in three weeks, are any of the barrels on backorder or something? (I was told it would take up to two weeks most likely).
Battlefield,
We literally go through hundreds, some times thousands, of barrels each week. They are constantly in and out of stock. In anticipation of our annual inventory, we shipped as muchas we could out last week before shutting down both shipping and receiving Wednesday night. We're back at regualr operationall capacity and function this motnong, so shipments will resume again today. For a specific order, you're best off calling (toll free at 866-980-7625)) one of our sales reps to follow up. Thanks. Steve/RRA |

I'm intersted in determining whether my RRA is a preban or post ban model. How does one find out? I got confused at reading web posts displaying the 1994 ban.

E-mail or IM me your serial number, and I can tell you how and when it left the factory.

Steve, I received my 2 - Ar's last week and 2 Pistol lowers, and LOVE them.
Any NEWS of the 40 S&W Pistols? |
I'm hoping for the 40s this summer. Things are finally looking good for shipments of 458s and 308s, and when that gets going, a lot of opportunities exist for the new/subsequent projects to move forward.

Hi! New to the forum. Have you started production on the 6.8 cal. SPC RRA LAR? Is the barrel a strait profile or the M4 profile. Thank you for any information.
Soon (getting the 458s and 308s moving out the doors first).
Straight profile in front of the FSH. Heavy under the HG. Steve/RRA |
Hi Steve, 2 Weeks ago my ffl called to check on my 308 and was told that production was or had started. This week he was checking on lowers and thought to recheck and was told that production had been pushed back again. What gives?
Thanks for any info, dawghowse |
We've been quoting Junish for the LAR-8, which could have been late may or early July...and the latter is still looking really good. We're holding production for the new lowers. Once they're in, we're good to go with initial builds.

I just recieved my CAR A4. I can not tell you enough how pleased I am with the fit and finish of the rifle. While this is my first AR, I have looked at many and none of them compared to what ya'll have delivered. I am more than happy. I am glad I did not buy an off the shelf rifle and waited eight weeks. The only thing that I would have done differently would have been to include some rail covers because everyone around here seems to be out of stock.
I am going to the range this weekend to test it out I will let ya'll know what I think about it when I am done. |
The Daniel Defense and SureFire quads come with ladder-style rail covers (although not enough to cover everything-on the longer models in particular, which I've always found a little strange). The RRA aned YHM rails do not come with any covers, but both solid and ladder style covers are available from, and almost always in stock at, RRA.

At a recent gun show, I saw a RRA "SWAT Special" carbine with S.W.A.T and Special Weapons and Tactics etched on the right side of the magazine well. It looks like a Tactical Entry carbine with lightweight YHM rails, YHM BUIS, Badger latch and extended trigger guard. It looks VERY interesting. Can you tell me more about this model?

It is a rifle (one of several on a particular order) that was ordered with multiple subs/upgrades and custom engraving by one of our dealers.

hi steve. i recently received my first ar-15. my uncle built one for me using the EE on this site. i told him that i liked the rock river arms rifles after looking at your catalog. the finished gun i got from is something else. i couldnot believe the finish and craftsmanship. keep up the good work.
these are the specs: all parts were new in box so this gun has not been fired yet. 16 inch barrel with mid length guards. lar-15 lower rra detachable tactical carry handle. rra 6 position stock any idea what this setup would be close to in your catalog? oh yeah, what about decals for the tool box? i saw another post with this question but didnt see the answer. |

"Thanks Uncle ChuckyT."

Sounds similar to the Elite A4..few differences, but close.
