Are other allowable subs listed on the RRA site? I didn't see anything listed, but that may just be because I didn't look in the right place. A friend acquired a RRA rifle recently and I decided that being jealous of him wasn't a bad thing. This kit may be just the thing for that stripped lower sitting in my safe. |

WHY IS IT MY car a4 KIT that came from a dealer in California did not come with a magazine? and the carry handle and buttstock looked like airsoft parts without any rock river markings or forge marks on the handles. Did the dealer ripped me off? he told me magazines are "banned" in California?
|
|
|
We ship to CA with low cap mags (still have to meet CA law), the stock should be RRA marked, and there is no carry handle with the kit, so your dealer included whatever he wanted to apparently.

Has anybody been receiving their kits recently? I ordered one 12/1/08 straight from RRA online and at the time they were saying 10-12 weeks. It's currently week 14 for me. I know lots of people have waited longer than that, but all the posts I've seen on here have been complete rifles and not kits. Any word on whether rifles are getting priority over kits or whether they're treated the same? My order is 43xxx and I've seen people on the forum receive complete rifles with higher order numbers than that.
In the meantime, I'll just get in line like everybody else... |
|
|
I've got an order in for a Chrome Lined Kit as well, order number 458XX placed 12/18/08.
Up till last week I thought it would be getting it this month but that looks very doubtful, more like a Summer arrival based on recent posts. I would guess the kits get the same priority as a complete upper (assuming the lower parts kits are plentiful which has been wishy washy lately). I believe, the complete rifles will get the highest priority, so the Entry Tactical will ultimately get the M4 barrells (I'm sure there is some method to the madness on allocation of barrels to different orders) when they get more, so keep an eye out when they start shipping Entry Tactical rifles and uppers and hopefully yours and mine will follow shortly. |
|
|
Yep. The wait is killing me. I ordered my kit 1/20/09 #495XX. Went to the local gun show and could have bought one "off the table" but nooooo I figured mine would be in late this month or early next. Now maybe June? Holy buckets.....

Fwiw,
I placed on order for a kit on February 12, 2009. After hearing you guys, I contacted Rock River and they said that the wait is anywhere from 3-12 months. asg1 |

Question of the century I know, but shipping times... I ordered a CAR A4 complete kit with the upgraded chrome-lined barrel a couple of weeks ago and wanted to know if anyone had any info on what parts seem to be the hold up (aside from currently being a very saught after gun). I have seen some posts that say certain barrels are going on complete rifles first but wanted to clarify.
My next newb question, if the evil ban comes into effect, what sort of impact will that have on the shipping/manufacturing of my kit. I've heard that the gov't considers the receiver alone as the "gun", so would that mean the rest of my AR would still be built and sent? I know it's all rumor at this point, but how exactly did that work during the '94 ban? Thanks for any info, this forum has been very helpful! (But a bit depressing) |

Has anyone received any kits lately?

A friend of mine ordered on 12/15/08 on the RRA website. Just received his CAR A4 kit last week. 9 months. FYI.
Another friend ordered in mid-January 2009 and is still waiting for the same kit. |

Oh man... I ordered the same via their website September 19th.. I don't know that I can wait 9 months for delivery. Not having an ETA for delivery is very very tough. |

I ordered a RRA Chrome lined CAR4 kit at the end of April 09 from RB Precision and just received an email today saying that its shipping today. I'll update once I receive.
ETA: Mine arrived today. Looks great. Need to assemble, get some sort of BUIS and/or optic and shoot. |

My wait is over, just received my CAR A4 kit with chrome lined barrel today. Placed my order March 10, 2009. My order number was 55956 (I ordered direct from RRA's website.) Got a call to see if I still wanted it on October 20th, and was given a 2-6 week wait time, and received it right at the 2 week mark. Total wait time about 7 months and 3 weeks. Worth every minute (I hope).
|
|
|
What kind of wait times are we talking now for these kit's? I ordered one on Feb 20, 2010, and am still waiting.
|
|
|
Right around 60 days. A lot still depends on barrel availability at the time your order is received.

So, as of 1 AM EST, you had the kits available (ie, there was a BUY button) for $730 for non-chrome lined.
Was it an error, or did they sell out? |
|
|
I placed my order for this kit on Jan 18, 2013. I don't plan on seeing it for a LONG time, but I cannot get in touch with RRA to confirm if they will honor this sale, which I didn't even think about when I placed the order. Any opinions on this?

Be patient Grsshopper. I got my kit on the date promised. You will be so happy. In the mean time research, read and be sure to write your reps. BTW assembly is easy using the links on this website. Rifle is a beauty.

Hi Steve
I ordered two CAR A4 kits last week. I hope they fall under "firearms first" category. I'll wait and be patent since I have the receivers already. |

Mine was ordered on 12/27 and I just got a shipping notice for delivery on 2/5

I ordered the plain steel barrel and was shipped the chrome. BTW you won't need specialized tools at all. If you have duct tape and vice grips you're GTG. Kit carbine is easy to shoot, a tack driver and a beautiful piece of hardware. I took the precaution of cleaning my barrel prior to first shots. There was no fouling from test fire present. But run a patch through it anyway to be sure.

My rifle came just about exactly when the estimate said it would.
BTW I went with some Mag-pul flip up rear sights to get in the game. I had concerns because they are plastic. The concerns are unfounded. The sights are very carefully made, seem as durable as metal and work fine. When you get your rifle you will be very, very pleased. |
|
|
^^^ I bought the same rear sights and installed them last night...they seem very well built.
My kit came in but the extra mags I ordered did not...no big deal. I should mention that my barrel was not chrome lined, that may be the difference in build/ship times with these kits. The product did not dissapoint at all and I would have happily waited much longer, I didn't think I'd see any parts before summer time! Best of luck to you all for speedy build/ship times. |
|
|
The mag that came with the rifle works perfectly. I had earlier bought a five round mag so I would be legal for whitetail in NH. That runs great too.
I've got a couple of mags on back order with RRA as well. I see there are about one million mags on back order nationwide just with Magpul. |

I think my wait was just about exactly four months at the end of last year. Whatever they tell you for an anticipated delivery will be just about exact. And you will be very happy.

Just wanted to update this and say that the CAR A4 Rifle Kit I ordered on 20 December 2012 shipped this past week. While I cant say that I am impressed with the fact that they didnt bother sending me a shipping confirmation or tracking number so I can make sure I was home on the day it arrived, I am happy that it has finally showed up. The only reason I knew it was finally on the way was the fact that they finally charged my card. I get it that they are busy, but every other manufacturer that I have ordered items through at least sends shipping and tracking info and even eventually responds to emails. I got nothing from these guys. Not particularly impressed with their customer service. Good Luck to everyone else still waiting. |

Eighty-three days...
Considering the current demand, I would say that is very reasonable. Well...how is that rifle??? BTW - I got a call from RRA yesterday saying they could ship back ordered Mags to me if I still wanted them. |

My Car4 Kit, non chrome, will be delivered tomorrow. Ordered January 9th. I got UPS tracking a few days ago by e mail also. Not sure why you (USMCinVA) didn't get a tracking notification though. I've always gotten one. I did notice that when I was going to change my contact phone number on my RRA account, it popped up a warning saying that changes made to your acct info will not apply to any orders already in the works. Did you happen to change your e mail on your contact info? Only reason I can think of for why they didn't send you tracking info. Other than maybe falling through the cracks.
This will be my 3rd RRA rifle but the first 2 were complete rifles so with this kit I have to put the darn lower together. I found good info on this forum but still worried about breaking off the little ears on the trigger guard Also would like to thank everyone here that has been providing info on deliveries and such. With limited info coming from RRA it's just you guys and Steve to rely on, and I appreciate it. As for Steve, if some people think RRA has gone in to a cyber hole of sorts, remember he is the one standing outside of the hole, taking fire while giving us all the help he can. I for one greatly appreciate that. Gotta be tough. Take care |

Flatiron -
Putting together the kit is straightforward. I had the exact same anxiety that you do. Just don't be in a hurry. Follow the directions step by step from the links on this website. I was careful with the small springs and they didn't disappear into the ether. I made sure they didn't take the opportunity. I used vice grips covered with duct tape for squeezing in the trigger guard pin. Follow the directions, go slowly and you will know that done properly you will not be doing something that will break the ears. As you squeeze in the pin you can feel that things are going together right. Total time 2 hours maybe, just go slow and you will be very, very pleased. Also, don't look for any extra left over parts. everything they send you will wind up in the rifle. Notice the fit and finish of the rifle as you put it together. Very careful workmanship by RRA. Really nice rifle. |

I asked for No-chrome barrel and they sent (and charged me for) a chrome barrel.
No big deal probably better for me. |

Thanks Crosby, I have my duct tape and vise grips at the ready. Even have a small press if I need it. I'm fairly mechanical but those small fragile ears worry me a bit. I'll go easy on it and hopefully it'll all go well. I should have went chrome but I cheeped out and thought maybe chrome barrels may be more scarce right now and might hold up the order. I don't shoot a whole lot and always clean afterwards even if it's just a few rounds. May get a chrome barrel later but I'll see how the non chrome performs. I'll post a picture of the finished product.
Thanks again, take care flat |

I do get the order confirmation, just nothing about shipment. At this point, I am just happy I got my rifle. Took me less than an hour to assemble it, thanks to the help of this site of course. |

Well USMCinVA,
How do you like your rifle? What do you have in mind for sights? How does it compare to your service rifles? BTW - a local NH sporting club is hosting a CMP Service Rifle Clinic this spring. Cheap money and nice people. Qualifies you to send away for a reasonably priced M1 Garand. I already have one but have never been to a clinic. I am surprised there isn't more interest. They provide the ammo .30-'06, .308, or .223. |

Ordered Jan 9 - received Mar 14, lower was no problem to put together. Fired flawlessly at the range. Couldn't be happier.
