It comes from RRA and someone that is in the know. I know what you mean as I still have 2 out there for me. They were ordered on 12/10 so the order has just had its first birthday.. I'm looking forward to seeing the new accessories on their website and in the January catalog. 8654, OUT. |

The DD rails say - Daniel Defense AR-10 Rail 9.0" or 12.0" - or something like that. RRA cannot or doesn't want to have AR-10 on their product. Well, that is what DD says. RRA says slightly different. I'm sure it is like everything... somewhere in the middle is the truth. If my mid-length has to come with standard hand guards, I'll just buy a DD rail. 8654, OUT. |

Besides this page being mine....
Check out the RRA Website... on the LAR-8 page. Carry Handles, Upper Halves (Complete), Dominator Mounts, Muzzle Devices, Handguards, Etc. My order is already in. 8654 |

I'm Still waiting on my LAR-8 A4 ordered at SHOT 2009! Lots of nice new versions just announced. at SHOT Show 2010. He!! I just want my A4. My frustration with Rock River is growing!

I ordered a LAR8 A4 on March 18,2008.
It arrived at my Dealer yesterday,I picked it up today,January 28,2010. That's 1 year,10 months, and 10 days wait. I got exactly what I wanted. By all the reportsI've read, it will have been worth the wait. |

Well, I got a bit of good news today. My dealer finally got hold of a living breathing Rock River Rep on the phone today, and discussed my order. I had wanted to make a change to my LAR-8 standard A4, changing the flash hider to the recently introduced Smith Vortex. The RR rep told the dealer that this change would push my order to the back of the line, and my dealer wisely said "nevermind" on this change. Once this was settled the rep told my dealer that they should get the rifle within 4 weeks. If so I will be a happy camper then!!! I am setting a reminder for followup on that date, IE, Feb 26th.
Now I need to get serious about a scope mount and BUIS set. I have Weaver Extreme Classic scope ready to go on it. I promise no more griping here until Feb.27th comes and I don't have the rifle. |

I just heard from my FFL. My two (2) orders for RRA LAR-8 A4 Standards were shipped yesterday! He placed my order with RRA on 12/31/08. Looks like mine are on their way...Looks like the only price change was in shipping cost. It went up a little, but I'm getting them for a price of $1125 each. So that's good news. The price seems to be falling on Gunbroker, but the RRA site now shows $1300.00

I plan to get to the range this weekend and try it out. The wait ( 1 year and 2 weeks) is over. Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus......I mean LAR-8-A4. The price paid was nice too. PS: I intend to post a pic after I get the scope on it. Glad to hear that you finally got your LAR-8. Have great fun with it... Forrest |

Drum roll please....
My A4 20" LAR-8 showed up today. Just 14 months and 6 days. Of course, it was held up for a while with the DD rail debacle. Anyway, it is here now... I can rest easy. Zombies beware, 8654 |

My 20" A4 Lar -8 has arrived. Exactly 14 months to the day. I will go out this weekend and break it in, and subsequently begin the sighting in process. Oh Joy!

I've said it before and I will say it again. Can someone in authority on this board start a dedicated LAR-8 , FAQs and Acessories thread and sticky it somewhere?

Having owned a bunch of fine RRA AR15 platforms, I just ordered a pair of LAR-8s from Legal Transfers. It'll be a few months but hopefully they'll get here sooner than some of you other guys, who have been waiting longer than a year or more. I ordered a standard 20" A4 with a quad rail and NY/AWB muzzle brake forerator myself and the Operator for my son with the same brake.
I will probably set mine up for iron sights with the RRA stand-alone 1/2" moa rear and their flip-up barrel sight forward (or maybe an MI gas block mount?). How do you guys' LAR-8s like the milsurp ammo? Any feeding/jamming issues? What about accuracy @ 100-yards/200-yards with this stuff? |

Walked into my LGS wanting to see what they had. I had already made my mind up on a DPMS. They had a DPMS, AR, RRA. Bought the RRA LAR 8 Mid-length, A4 because of the $$, quality and fit.
They made me buy the Eotech + 3x for sighting. Well maybe not made me but I liked the sighting. The range will tell if I really like it. As of right now I am holding my reservations. It does sight super fast but you cannot see the red dot without magnification. I will post pics soon. Looking for fold down BUIS. Anyone have suggestions? I have a 3-9x50 and will mount it soon. Looking forward to the range work. Reloading is next. BTW - I live in Florida. Not many ranges here except one that I belonged to before. |

Ordered my LAR-8 A4 on 21 May 2010. Got it on 30 June 2010. Don't know why it 's taken some of you guys over a year to get yours.

I ordered one on 7/7/10....As 8/18/10, I was told it may be another 3 months because everyone at RRA went to Camp Perry, and they are "way behind". They person I spoke to also said they were filling orders from February...Go figure
Apparently the "right person" t otalk to must have been at Camp Perry also.
We're quoting 30-90 days on most LAR-8s right now, with some models being almost current and some being three months+ behind, but catching up as the backlogs lessen on other models. Steve/RRA |

I just bought another, a carbine. Got it from a stocking dealer, should have it within a week.
It's a great weapon, no wonder RRA has a tough time keeping up with demand. That makes two LAR-8's for me. |
Some gave all, all gave some.

Undertaker, where did you get the 30 round Mag shown in your pictures you posted

Steve/RRA Thanks Steve, I have called several times and gotten a different answer each time. I was closed for vacation one week and didn't want the rifle to ship when no one would be here to receive it. That time I spoke with a very helpful lady––she at least made me feel like she wanted to help even if she didn't–– who told me all that was holding up the order was the advanced half quad handguard. Everyone else seems like I am bothering them. They are polite, but still come across as wanting me off their phone. I don't mind waiting, but would simply like the same answer. Being that the website shows a lead time of 30-60 days (which I will say hasn't expired yet), that's what I was originally expecting. Then I was told 6-8 weeks, now I'm told another 3 months. I don't call just to bug you guys abou this order but when calling for other orders I figure, while I got ya on the phone.... |
Just curious, I ordered two LAR-8's Law Enforcement 16" mid-lengths on 7/8/10. Do the LE models take longer to deliver than the standard models?
Not normally.
Depends on which one you ordered, and whether or not I have LAR-8 Carry Handles i-house if it was an LE1340. Never thought that the A2 carry handles would be the popular rear sight/mount, but they are. Constantly adding to production. Steve |
Thanks, you know it's hard to beat the original, but I do love the tactical rail as well. Didn't know that would be an option when I ordered them! Might have chose that if I knew.
By the way, it is the LE 1340. It has been over the sixty day mark, should I be expecting good news soon! LOL!!! If there isn't any carry handles, I will gladly take the tac rail. Guess I am getting jumpy. I got all my magazines and ammo with an empty spot in my gun cabinet and in my patrol car! LOL!!!
Holy crap! I just got off the phone with the gun shop that ordered my LE 1340's back in July. He said that he was just told it would be three to six months wait! What happened to 30 to 60 days? LOL!!! I thought that production was in full swing on these. God I hope that he spoke with someone that was misinformed. I could use some good news right now.
I would be the only one he could have asked for that information, and I've had no such call in about six weeks. I'm not saying anyone is lying, but someone might be doing some CYA.
Original ETA is still approximately correct, depending on the handles/sights. Steve/RRA |
Steve, thank you! I figured as much. My dealers daughter is taking over the buisness and she isn't as honest as her dad! Would it speed things up if I changed the order to tactical rails instead, or would it throw me to the back of the list? Either way I appreciate the info, and regardless of how long it takes, I am sure it will be worth it!
No...don't change it.
Besides the reprocessing charge, right now you're better off with the A2 ahndles, as they're back in stock. If you could e-mail me with the info on your order, I'll try to track it doen and see what's going on with it. Thanks. Steve/RRA |
Thanks Steve, I emailed you the info! Once again, I appreciate the effort and that is why I will continue to buy Rock River products!

Picked up my rifles two days ago and I couldn't be happier!!! Only one issue and it really isn't a big deal. The rear cam on the carry handle of one rifle was installed upside down and torqued prior to shippment, it left a scar on the carry handle but the receiver was unhurt. Easy fix, it was probably done because they were trying to hurry and get my rifles coming!! LOL!!! These things are a work of art. Wow!!!!
Got mine in a couple weeks ago...All I can say is WOW!! I was shooting "cheap" ammo to get the scope close(surplus Hertenberger from AIM.). It will shoot 3/4" at 100 meters if I do my part. I haven't tried it wih "match" ammo yet.
Are you shooting the 16", 20", or 26" barrel?
The standard 20" on the A2 with advanced half quad fore end and A2 flash suppressor.

Guys...watch the RRA website for some interesting LAR-8 developments over the next few days, and then a few more over the next couple/few months, and then more mid-January (at the time of the SHOT Show and catalog/web-site changeover).

A2 Uppered-rifles, with upper halves joining them this weekend.
Lower halves coming in the next few days. We've been adding accessories here and there throughout the year with more coming. Only getting better. Steve/RRA |

LAR-8 lower halves now on the site as well. Retail pricing shown, but of course can only be directly ordered by an FFL-holding dealer.

It'll be a LOT better when the magazines hit the site.

PSSSST: The Phase 5 ambi tactical charging handle latch works great on my scoped LAR-8A4 flat top. I can do a right hand charging without significantly affecting my sight picture through the scope. The color on the latch is more of a very dark ash gray park, rather than the deeper black on the RRA gun itself, but that is not a concern for me. Rock River should be looking at this when they develop/introduce an ambi charging handle for the LAR-8.
