Doesn't get much simpler than this...one piece Cav Arms lower. Simple A1 skinny barrel upper.

What did you have done or better yet what type of birdcage flash suppressor did you use to get the legal length on the 14.5" barrel? I have the same rifle and same barrel but mine came with an "izzy brake" permantly attached.

A lot of Young American Jews are learning the greatness of the M1 Carbine.

This Carbine, being my most recent build was actually inspired by this thread so I thought I'd share it.

I got the sling in an Ebay auction. It ended up being shipped from Israel. Looks like the real thing to me.

It's a shame they won't do that with Christians as well. Perhaps seeing what border Israelis must deal with on a daily basis with respect to indiscriminate rockets and mortars might wizen-up the American populace.

My old IDF "AR15". Gotta get pics of the new one, it's an M16 "ctsar" (short), basically a chopped-down M16. A1 upper, 4 pos CAR stock, etc.

It was tough to keep this build simple, but both of my other builds are "busy".  So, I had to go back to the basics.  This one is even more simple than my first AR.  Except for the Jard fire control group.

About the shorter barrels.  A few people asked about the A1 uppers with 13" barrels.  It is simple.  The IDF bought huge quantities of old M16 rifles from the U.S.  What they do is cut the barrel and re-attach the flash hider.  They call it the M16 Saw (as in taking a saw to it).  Most of the rifles I saw were 20 inch.  Some patrols had the shorter versions.  All of them were completely beat up except for the Airforce (tan uniforms) they had brand new M4s.  Not very many of them.  Some of the female battallions had A1s with the original triangle stocks and flash hiders.

All of the weapons there were seriously beat up.  Most had an equal amount of bare silver metal showing and blueing.  I saw a full size uzi that looked like it had been carried constantly since it was built.  Heck, they still use the M1 carbines on a daily basis (civil guard).

The orilite mags are gone.  They dumped them on the US.  Now they just use standard 30 round GI mags.  They recently dumped the Galil rifles.  I have only seen 1 Galil in service and that was a brand new micro galil being held by a guard at the Knesset (Capitol Building).

Some of the women would decorate their rifles.  Nearly all of the rifles I saw had some type of tape on the handguard and a lot had those padding thingies.

I guess there were problems with them not locking up efficiently.  I figured I'd try it and if it didn't hold a lock, it would be an easy fix.  Well, it stays where I want it, so it's good.  :)

My new IDF AR. I qualified for Calah (squad sharpshooter) so I got a new weapon: M4A1 (property of US Gov't of course) with ACOG (can someone tell me the make maybe?) and Akilah night sight. Check out the reticle pic.

And just for fun: a buddy's gun. M4 with M203, Mepro 21, and Ze'evun M203 sight.
