I'm doing an M16 A4 build on a colt HBAR upper and don't want to remove the front sight, so I'm considering using a Daniel Defense Omega rail that claims to bolt onto the factory barrel nut and delta ring with no modification to the weapon. Has anyone used this rail, and how secure is it? Thanks.

I have one on my m4 and it's as sturdy as rock.  Military M16A4 uses Knight's Armament rail system

if you want a M16A4 clone, what you need is a Knight KAC M5 rail system !

Just check the diameter of your HBAR.. if it's too big you will have to work on the KAC a little bit. but on mine it wasnt needed.

Anyway, the M5 can be mounted without having to remove the frontsight, and get fixed to the delta ring by a pince tightened by a screw.

that is how it looks on mine. I will just change the frontight to get one with the bayo lug.

oh, I didn't know the knights could be mounted without removing the front sight and delta ring. Thanks. Price really isn't the issue, I just didn't want to dork up my hbar upper by trying to remove the sight. Thanks.
Nice looking rifle, thanks for the pic.

You mean it clamps down on the barrel nut.

Thanks for the link, it sounds like everyone has had a pretty good experience with the omega. I think I'll go for it.

yes sorry. You know, english isnt my language, so sometimes I screw up things

I have a Daniel Defense M4 on my SDI M4 clone, and it's a great product ! I've seen the Omega, and the quality is there as well.

Now, if you want something that make your M16A4 clone look like what marines are usually issued, you need a KAC RAS M5..

for your information, this is how the M5 look like, and how you mount it :

Yes, no need to remove anything since the Knight's isn't free float.

I got the Omega rail and I thought it looked flimsy in the box, but once installed its really awsome. Oval shaped, which I like, and solid as a rock. I couldn't be happier. I like the idea of free floating better than the Knights because this is an accuracy rig. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

An H-bar with a rifle-legth tactical rail looks pretty heavy. How does it  handle?

Here's my A4 clone. PK Firearms had a Sabre Defense 1/7 gov't profile barrel upper with the Knight's M5 RAS. put it on an RRA lower

It's a Hong Kong PEQ-2a clone. The guy takes an Airsoft G&P laser and light and installs an IR diode and illuminator.
Here's a real PEQ-2a

The IR clones are available on ebay for about $600. The real ones show up from time to time on the equipment exchange where I got mine, in January. Have only seen a couple up for sale there since.

Here's my m16A4 clone.. (should get a TA31F instead of the TA01NSN soon, but it's a bit expensive at the moment) . It's a govt profile, 1/7 ... I tried on a HBAR, but in conjuction with the M5 RAS it was far too heavy..

I dont have any Kbar.. the only bayonet I won for AR is an old M16A1 bayonet
