It's set up for a can but I have not pulled the trigger on one yet as here in WA St. you may own a suppressor but you cannot use it

I had a guy in the Mk12 thread tell me this build wasn't "Mk12 enough", even though I called it a 'tribute'
I rather thought that it was an improvement over the original design.
Perhaps the SPR folks won't be quite so critical.

Lower:
Smith & Wesson M&P15 stripped lower
Stag LPK
Timney 3# single-stage trigger
Magpul trigger guard
TangoDown battle grip (foliage)
Rock River A2 buttstock (foliage)
Magpul 20 round magazines (foliage)

Upper:
LaRue Tactical Stealth, 18" ion-bond barrel with a 13.2" hand guard
BCM Gunfighter charging handle
LaRue LT-130 QD mount with Harris bipod
Foliage ladder rail covers by Magpul
LaRue LT-139 QD SPR-E scope mount
Mueller 8.5-25x44 AO Tactical Mildot Scope

I wonder how the Magpul ACS would work these 'standard' of setup's.

I am 'still' building an SPR, though my version. 20", A2 stock... need rail, optic's and mount.

Looking at a POF 12sx rail, but I think I am going to come up empty handed on that.

MK12 Sniper Rifle / Special Purpose Receiver (SPR)

Two existing universal need statements were fielded by Marine Corps Combat Development Command to provide an enhanced precision firing capability at the rifle squad level. This need was met by the rifle combat optic rapidly fielded to forces in OIF, leading the Marines to recommend the fielding of the Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) to the Scout Sniper Platoon where it could be used by the observers to augment the current 8 sniper rifles with its own sub-minute of angle accuracy.

The SOPMOD Program Management Office at NSWC Crane, IN, provides standardized, versatile weapons accessories to meet needs across SOF mission scenarios. These accessories will increase operator survivability and lethality by enhanced weapon performance, target acquisition, signature suppression, and fire control. SOPMOD PMO provides these accessories when they are operationally suitable, affordable, sustainable, and funded.

This weapon system, used by Special Forces units of both the US Army and US Navy, is a heavily modified deviation from the familiar AR15/M16 line of infantry weapons. SPR initially stood for Special Purpose Receiver, but that nomenclature seems to have disappeared as the weapon became a stand alone weapon system, and not just an add on upper as part of proposed SOPMOD upgrades. SPR now means Special Purpose Rifle. It was eventually type classified by the Navy as the Mk 12, though the Army also uses this designation.

The SPR program was an outgrowth of the desire by both US Army and Navy special forces for a rifle with greater effective range than an M4 type Carbine but still shorter in length than a standard issue M16A2/A4. The 9/11 events led to Emergency Combat Mission Need Statement for SPR’s and ammo. This was based on reports from SOF operators of M855 being ineffective, specifically in Close Quarters Battle [CQB] operations. The SPR program appears to have grown out of both the death of the proposed SOPMOD Block IV, and the US Navy SEALs 'Recon Rifle' (a 16" flat-topped AR-15/M16 Carbine).

The SEAL teams were apparently disappointed with the performance of the resulting Mk 12 Special Purpose Rifle (SPR), and have apparently now convinced the managers at Crane continue development of the SEAL Recon Rifle.

I almost forgot about this thread.

I have changed out my KAC lower's ACS stock for a PRS (bought years ago from Victor).
With multiple lowers I figured I wouldn't be sacrificing too much for one of them to have a fixed stock.
This lower will be used both with the 18" Douglas SPR upper as well as the 24" Varminter upper.
I am also dedicating my D-760 GenIII NV scope to the 18" SPR upper for after sunset shooting.

DAY:

NIGHT:

I of course still have the Mod0 build, with the collapsible SOPMOD, and have a different NV solution planned for it.
I've gone back and forth with the T1 RDS on the Mod0, and for now, it stays,
Victor's SAR mount with the Trjicon 4 MOA RMR will go to the Douglas upper to be mounted at an angle off the NSX/LaRue day optic.
I'll see how I like that and then maybe I'll change the Mod0's placement of the T1.

I started this thread a while back to get some ideas for my build. I haven't done too much to it lately, but here's where it is so far. I'm planning on a Larue/Harris bipod real soon, and some sort of BUIS. I can't bring myself to spend $200 on Troy's even though I've had them before and liked them. I also have plans for different stock and to add a Hogue grip. Hell, I may just get a new lower with the stock, grip and a two stage trigger. I'd also like to ditch the VFG for something polymer, maybe the FUG if I can find a deal. This one has quite a bit of weight to it.
