Very nice.

May need to look for an A2 upper and pull my barrel.

Do any of you super knowledgeable Dissipator guys happen to have any info on DPMS Dissy barrels? I picked up a DPMS rifle length gas Dissipator barrel off the EE, it has a 1/9 twist and is chrome lined. Just curious on when they were offered/ how long?

Anyway, I opted to swap it out for a different barrel in a existing build and I am really happy how it came out.

S&W M&P sport II for the base rifle, added the FDE B5 stock and grip and a BCM QRF. Tipped off with a Griffin taper mount hammer comp for the hush tube

It's more than likely from the Freedom Group era when they owned both Bushmaster and DPMS (2009-2014), and if you look at all the reviews from MidwayUSA it fits the timeline.

Odd thing is, mine is not a HBAR profile. It looks more medium contour to me, I measured it at .730 behind the gas block hump back.

That's an old school A.R.M.S. SIR handguard.  I didn't know they made a rifle length version.

Ha! Sure, yes :)

Weight-wise as you see it it's not bad at all, in fact, quite balanced. Barrel is an FN CHF government profile, so not terrible. The SIR rail is certainly heavier than it needs to be, I just think it looks awesome.

After seven years I finally figured out a perfect match to KAC (polymer) Taupe with Cerakote, so I'm working up color schemes for the build. I also found a Sully Stock and picked up a LAW Folder that I'm going to try on it--then it will probably be like carrying an M240, but hey. It will look awesome.

Shenanigans:

Figured this is the place to add: I was having issues getting my Del-Ton 16" rifle gas upper to run reliably with a rifle buffer/A1 stock setup. Removed 2 of the buffer weights and haven't had a malfunction since.

Had a buddy give me the handguards and grip, scored the stock on the EE here so I re configured this one. Will probably build another with a rail and such but I like this one set up as seen here way more!

Ditched the M5 RAS and went back to the A2 handguards since the weight of the rail negated the weight savings of the lightweight barrel on the Spikes GMP upper. This is a light handy little carbine.

New option for your dissipator needs:

Anderson AM15 Dissipator Rifle

Anderson Dissipator Upper

Specs say 1:8 twist, rifle gas.

Just a heads up for labor day sales.

PSA Nitride Dissy upper $199

PSA Premium CHF dissy upper $409

I kind of want to FO on the premium one and swap to a A2 upper and then use one of those Surefire A2ish mounts for the supressor.

PSA Dissy, almost right... for now anyway. Need a proper switch/cord setup. And an ACOG. Still fantasizing about the MWS config too... Also like the retro ones.

I'm gonna need another Dissy.

Hi,

I have a ban era Bushmaster Dissapator w/carbine length gas system.

Light round count, never any issues but never run hard.

Unattended, what are the likely issues should we begin to run it harder?

Is everyone doing preventative maintainence or simply modding?

Thanks
Mike

Doesn't really matter but depends if you plan on going fixed stock... If you are then go with the A4, if you plan on an adjustable stock go with the M4.

Here is a couple of photos of a Colt prototype 'Dissipator' upper receiver recently received into my collection. It was evaluated for production feasibility as part of the 6940-series of firearms. Note the use of the extra length of rail section to make it rifle length.

Very cool. That's kind of what I had in mind when I built my "What if..." PIP 605. I do think my gov-profile barrel is probably more practical then the monster on that Colt upper.

Nice addition to a collection, that's for sure.
