Curious how you like the NightForce on the Block II. I've got an ACOG on mine now, but I'm really wanting to pick up a 2.5-10x32 myself.

That's my plan. I'm gonna sell the TA01-ECOS that's currently on my Block II, and go with a NF 2.5-10x32 instead.

I only had them together for one range trip before the Mk12 was ready for the NF, but when it was on there it was a good combo. Perfect in my opinion for a "recce" rifle. A tad heavy obviously but not bad. 2.5x is not ideal but manageable for within 50 yds and 10x allows the Block II to stretch its legs. Personally I like the compactness and FOV of my TA31 so thats what will stay on there permanently from now on.

That one was a mil contract issued ris as confirmed by dd. It was discussed several pages ago. The box was different too.

Just picked up a couple test boxes of Tula at wal-fart for the block II. Ive been avoiding it, but due to my current finances as most of you know, its Tula time. I still need to get a damn H buffer. My upper is way overgassed of course (how I like it, BCM) so im sure she will eat it up just fine. Hopefully!

If your upper is very overgassed, an H2 should be the starting point. H2 or H3 should be the solution for an overgassed rifle, not an H.

Yea I know, im gonna get an H2 to be clone correct for an M4A1 though.
Im not one to worry too much about bolt wear in this gun since it has a backup bolt ready to go. I'll let her beat herself up

I thought they ran H2s in the M4A1s?

And who the heck knows what buffer you have?

The proper/ideal weight buffer is a big part of the equation for functionality, reliability, and durability. It's not an area to ignore IMO.

I have a standard car buffer. Im pretty sure the M4A1 runs an H2 buffer tho. I think it was part of the upgrade package.

ETA- http://discovermilitary.com/weapons/assault-rifles/m4a1-carbine/

^^that article says H2

ETA again,im glad I didnt get the CMMG H buffer I saw at my LGS now, that wouldve been disappointing.

Who cares about "clone correct" when it comes to a buffer. Get the one that makes the gun run as it should.  Just because they use an H2 doesn't mean your rifle will run well (in your particular case it should be fine with an H2) with that selection.  What if it didn't cycle well at all? Would you just let the gun sit in a corner and never shoot it because you were too stubborn to put a buffer that works well into it?  I'm not trying to be an ass, but sometimes what works well for one doesn't for another.  But anyways...as stated above, I would bet the H2 will work just fine.

I dont know where you got all that shit from, considering I havent had a single malfunction with this rifle. I prefer my rifles to be overgassed. Dont like it? I dont give a flying fuck.

Y'all have obviously never seen a Retro-head pay $275+ for an Edgewater buffer, literally redesigned for safety reasons.

I had a feeling I wouldn't gotta love those mil-spec BCG's.....they just keep on truckin'

I have the same bolt in my block II that was in my block I, then in my PR.

I've onlyhad to replace the extractor and spring. And gas rings. Derp. Still purrs like a kitteh!

Does anybody know the best place to find a RIS II wrench? My rail won't come with one, unfortunately.

I heard that DD will send one out if you ask, but I'm not sure if that's true.

I heard that DD will send one out if you ask, but I'm not sure if that's true.

Should have told me, I would have sent you one with the upper. I have 2 or 3 sitting around after owning so many of these rails.

And as far as Buffers, Millspec556, I'd recommend buying a H3 buffer, you can then pull them apart and make a H2 and H buffer out of your standard buffer and H3. a standard car buffer, from my understanding, is inadequate for shooting NATO 556 ammo.

That's something I didn't think of. I could buy an H3, and if it's too heavy to run steel reliably, I could gut it and use a scale to weight out the H2 weight in steel and tungsten inserts, and reassemble as an H2. Good idear bro.
