I went with a set of Warne low rings for my Leupold VX3HD 30mm w/1.63” eyepiece. I ended up with 0.025” of clearance between the eyepiece and the pic rail on the upper.

The scope will likely be offset back to account for eye relief, so you could probably go even lower.

Be careful if you’re using a Gibbz upper like a lot of folks, as the trap door in the back needs clearance to allow the BCG to slide in/out.
If you don’t have a high enough setup you’ll probably be taking the scope off every time you want to pull the bolt out…

There is just enough to space in the photo below for the BCG to come out (standard BCG for illustration).

Originally bought a Razor for it but the bell was too big with Larue Ultra Low rings. Had to swap scopes. I’m still going to buy a cheek rest I think

Received my stock a couple days ago and installed it today. Now I have an Ares SCR with a Fightlite stock.

Overall, I am pleased. Ergonomics are better than the Remington stock. Cheekweld is perfect for lining up on a low mounted optic (in this case a Sig Romeo 4T) and also improved with offset back up sights (in this case Magpul Pro sights). I didn't compare the weight between stocks, but the new one is marginally heavier. It was easier to install because it is wider than the Remington stock. Buttpad is rubber with aggressive texturing to stick to the shoulder. It probably will absorb some recoil - though the SCR's recoil is already almost non-existant. The texture on the grip is also excellent and an included sling stud on both sides is a bonus.

I have to admit I've had a love/hate relationship with this company and I am surprised to have had a positive customer experience in this instance.

I have no idea but I would suspect it is cast.

So since I'm new here, might as well contribute to this picture thread with my honest-to-goodness SCR "pistol" build, since .458 SOCOM loves such short barrels.

10" "retro" profile Tromix .458 barrel/bolt, swapped the pins for Yankee Hill ones so it's a lot easier to pop the upper off, Cross Machine Tools upper and a SeeAll open sight since it's the most slim-line usable sight I could actually acquire. Went with the gen-1 SeeAll to keep it streamlined. It's short and light enough to shoot one handed with good accuracy out to about 25 yards.

Trust me, I looked. XD All the ones out there don't support larger than .308 that I could find, .458's a Big Boy and muzzle devices do NOT like him.

I just ordered a Walnut lower for my 450 to live on.

Free-state dweller, and I don’t see this as an AR-alternative so much as a cool semi auto deer/pig rifle.

Plus the fact it takes AR15 uppers, shares small parts and mags doesn't hurt either.

Oh I meant more I was trying to find something closer to the 'cookie cutter' style "giant SHORT disc" style muzzle devices to slap on the end, not just adding another 3 inches of slightly thicker barrel.

Very nice.

As a new owner, you may want to invest in an ambi mag release to improve functionality.

Here is the one I installed:

My Fightlite lower is on Gunbroker (with bids).  I didn’t like the feel of the walnut stock grip angle and couldn’t bring myself to buy an original 1100 Monte Carlo stock to fix things…

If FM makes this in 450 Bushmaster I will be all over it.

I don’t know that it would solve your problem or not, but FM apparently also has an adapter to mount a Magpul stock on a SCR lower.

That's an FTM upper on a SCR lower, so the recoil system is in the upper, not in the stock

But you still need a small adapter to allow for the stock to bolt to the lower. It replaces the recoil parts. I've made the adapter for several years and it seems everyone is in the adapter game now.

Yeah, but I think the SCR is still the better product with your mod than the FM design.

FM said theirs are starting at $1000 complete and will take BRN-180 uppers as well. Kinda tempting so long as the trigger isn’t a mess. A 7.62x39 could be fun.

You use a SCR bolt carrier in the Bear Creek upper receiver. You just need to have a couple of holes drilled and tapped in the SCR bolt carrier for the Bear Creek side charging handle.

FM told me they don't have an adapter for the SGA stock. They said it just fits their lower.
