It appears that the popularity of the PDW configured AR is gaining traction. A substantial number of manufactures are producing PDW stocks and refinements to the BCG and buffer system are constantly coming to market.

Requirements (for this thread):

- Lower - AR15/M4 lower receiver

- Caliber - 5.56, 300 BLK, (9mm???)

- Barrel length -10.5" or less (SBR or Pistol w/ brace)

- Stock - Telescopic stock, telescopic pistol brace, folding RE adapter

Let's see what you've got!

AR PDW examples:

PDW stock manufacturers

MVB Industries - ARC

Battle Arms Development - VERT Stock System

Maxim Defense - CQB Stock

LWRCI - PDW Stock Kit

HK Parts - HK416 Style

CMT Tactical - UHP15PDW Integrated Lower System

Armaspec - XPDW (this is an odd one and I don't consider it a true PDW stock as it does not decrease overall length vs. a traditional RE/stock)

Safety Harbor Firearms - KES-AR15

X Products - R.O.C. (Rapid Operation Carbine) Stock

Rhino Rifles - AP Custom PDW Stock System

(Coming soon???) Strike Industries - Ultra-Short AR Stock

(Coming soon???) Falkor Defense - Optimus Stock

PDW buttstocks and RE folding adapters

LAW Tactical - Folding Stock Adapter GEN 3-M

LWRCI - Compact Stock

LWRCI - UCIW Ultra Compact Stock Kit

Magpul - SL-K

(coming soon?) LMT - PDW Stock Kit

Pistol - PDW braces

(Coming soon) SB Tactical - Telescoping Brace

I'm adding more all the time...

Yes, but I didn't think any of them were were broad PDW pic/discussion threads. I'm consolidating PDW info for the benefit of those who might be interested.

Love your builds btw!

Here is my first mock-up. I need to decide which of my registered lowers to use. I may switch it  up this evening to a Mega Billet upper with either the MK8 or a NSR7. Barrel is a KAK 8.5" in 300 BLK.

Mock-up #2. I like this configuration better than my first one. Now all I need is a SA bleed-off gas block.

This is the only thing now that fits the bill. Scorpion Tactical lower with CMC 3.5lb trigger module, Adams 7.5" piston upper, WC Accutac FH, LAW Tactical folder, and Colt/Rogers Super Stock.

I'm sure my son will be along in not too long. He has some really nice AR's that fit the PDW bill.

Here's one of his.

This is the PDS upper on a 80% lower.  Cheap-o stock adapter and Shockwave brace.  The upper functions and cycles just fine with the brace folded or unfolded.

My 5.56 LWRC PDW.  I dig the stock, but the rifle weighs too much for its intended use and  the vertical foregrip is crap.

Now you just need that picatinny receiver extension plug, so you can put a Sig MPX/MCX stock on it

I'm excited to see what it'll do.

Btw, you might as well go ahead and tell me what your next build is seeing how I am always a few months behind with something very similar.

i just finished a 733 commando build but i think you already have a commando

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_127/700140_colt_m733_build.html

i'm working on a few builds for friends right now but i'm not sure what i'll do next.  if i run across a 14.5" pencil barrel i'll prob finish my 653 then use that barrel for an xm177 clone.  i do keep popping into the sbr grendel threads but i'm trying to hold off expanding into another caliber , but the force seems strong with that one

I had my SBR built like this with an NEA stock and I hated it. It was too heavy between that stock (2 pounds) and the 3 pounds of bull barrel and quad rail I had on there. I'm really considering the LWRC stock set up and a shorty upper, like a light weight 7" 300 BO to make a better version of PDW. The stock was heavy and uncomfortable, and I ended up leaving it extended all the time.

I don't know that the AR is well set up to do this. with not being able to fire folded you end up with a thick, single shot rifle or a heavy, short, super loud rifle. It's tough. If I had this to do over, I would go sig MPX or Scorpion.

however, anyone have a source for LWRC stock kits for black friday?
