Edit: figured I’d better start this page with an actual, legitimate carry handle…

Does the Crimson Trace red dot hold zero? I got one on a .22lr and immediately removed it and gave it to my buddy's kid for his cheap winchester wildcat. Yep, my green M16A.22 is an odd looking rifle with the A2 stock, the weird RRA ‘tactical’ carry handle/riser and the 50 pound UTG extended quad rail, but it’s a dedicated .22 that’s accurate & hella fun to shoot. The CT RDS has been great. I got it for a crazy low price a few years ago. Based on my previous experience with Crimson Trace lasers & laser grips (I have various types that have performed flawlessly for over a decade), I figured I’d take a chance on their cheap red/green dot. Full disclosure, it’s only been used on the .22 LR AR & .40 S&W Glock PDW pictured below, but has at least 1-1.5k rounds through it and has held zero perfectly with no issues. I keep seeing them pop up on different websites for around 60 bucks. If anyone’s looking for a cheap red dot for a .22 or pistol caliber carbine, in my experience, it’s definitely worth the price. Would probably be fine on .556 and up to .308 as well, but cannot confirm as I’ve only used it extensively on the two guns above. ETA: Primary Arms is selling them right now for 35 bucks - worth every penny. CT RDS for $35 |

If you wanted something a bit shorter and arent too worried about being clone correct, you could take a look at the Linemount A1 stocks. I recently got one for a project that never materialized (I was planning on an ACOG/A2 carry handle build and wanted a shorter LOP to offset the short eye relief). I ended up throwing it on this Aero frankenbuild, and am surprised with how much I like it. It is solid and foam-filled like an A2 stock but is 5/8" shorter. It's surprising how much of a difference it makes. Plus at $60 it's cheaper than most A2 stocks. Type E |

It would go with my A1 birdcage and I'll have clone a Colt XM16E1 like I turned in 1987 for an M16A2! Do have a M110 adjustable stock but that goes on the M110 build. |

Just get a stripped lower and transfer all the parts out of the Aero. |

Out on the range this week with some youngins. They all had the latest 16 inch fully loaded tactical rifles. They asked what I had, I told them I had the latest Colt " boomer" rifle. We had a great laugh. |

Picked up a couple of well used A2's (and a new can!)
Can anyone help date these by SN? They both start with LGC rather than GC. They both say CAL 223 on the lower, but barrel says 5.56. Attached File |
