It no longer has a carry handle on it, but it was in this configuration for about 7 years.

For my second AR, I decided I wanted something simple that wouldn't hurt so bad financially if I wasn't able to get it back if I had to actually use it in CA (a real concern here due to crappy LE gun return policies).  I decided to emphasize lighter weight and give it some retro flair (since I've always liked retro stuff), even if it meant that it cost a bit more than it could have.  I have it mocked up, but the slip ring assembly still needs to be assembled, and the front swivel, FSB, and barrel installed.  It'll have a CA-legal grip and muzzle device, and stock stop, once built, at least for use within CA.

I originally wanted to do a 14.5" (with permanent FH to get to 16") carbine-length pistol with one of the retro-style braces being sold here (in the vein of the updated USAF carbines) with full features, but our AWB was expanded here last year so that I couldn't do this sort of build anymore without it being an AW.

It'll have a Surefire G2X on a IWC TMC Mount-n-Slot unless I can find one of the old Surefire FSB mounts (like the M25) within the same price range somewhere in the near future, a BFG VCAS, and, if I can find one of the inexpensive remote switch assemblies Primary Arms made that worked with the G2 and 6P, one of those, too.

I currently have 3 with CHs.

The first is a very unique left-hand DPMS A2esque upper. No allowance for dust cover. Uses a left-hand bolt in a modified right hand carrier. The only mod to the carrier is the gas ports are on the left-hand side of the carrier, otherwise, to include the cam pin direction, it's a right hand carrier. A dedicated right-hand carrier can be used though with the gas ports exhausting against the inner sidewall, the gun will get nasty much more quickly.

The next is a lefty pistol with detachable CH. I unassed the large knobs and replaced with noticeably smaller nuts.

Right hand A2 pistol

Top is a PSA build on a Del-ton lower. Nice and simple. Bottom is a place holder/spare parts build. Poverty pony lower, Colt LE trade in carry handle.

@Soberglitch killed it with this one. Seeing this was the straw that broke the camel's back and made me completely disassemble mine. I knew mine was far from where I wanted it (minus the KAC RIS, I think that sets it off), but that have me the push to break it down and rework it.

Thanks guy. Glad my pain and suffering in building that inspired some people
Only thing I have left to do is snag an AEM5 and chop the barrel down to 12.5

I missed the hoodie and sticker and still haven't gotten over it

There's still redemption chances for the MRE coming soon!

Okay, I'll play.  Can't get any more Plain Jane than this:

A Colt CR6920 I acquired New Year's Eve.  I decided to leave it bone stock and even add the carry handle for the ultimate in old schooledness.

I just finished up my MRE build for the most part so I guess I’m stuck buying even more shirts and stickers.

Cobbled together with Brownells parts, with a smidge of Braceman parts for added bling.

Here's my 605 inspired mish-mashed Dissy in 6.8 SPC with the Brownells Retro 4x and my Nomad. Always liked the look of carry handles, and repeatedly seeing Dissipators finally broke me.

Good looking guns!

I run two styles of AR's. Simple, rugged combat ready rigs with carry handles and precision rifles with top tier components and optics. I would not want to be without either of them in my safe as they both have their applications. I prefer A2 uppers for my carry handle rigs, but they're hard to find and expensive as hell, so most are A4 uppers with carry handles attached. Not ideal, but, with some loctite, they're OK.

A2 stock, bayonet, fsb, carry handle. Yeah, you don’t even need ammo to stack bodies with that thing.

@Strela

Is that an Arms mount or knockoff?
I thought I had one for mine and can’t find it. I’m looking for one everywhere
