carbine length gas system and a low-profile gasblock under the rail thanks |

I'd actually like to see a pic, if anybody has one, of a Troy MRF-M (9 inch) on a 14.5 inch midlength barrel with a low pro gas block. Thanks.

How about a Carbine Length replacement rail for a POF 415 upper ?

I just received one of Badger Ordnance's Stabilizer Hanguards for my AR-10. The price was right and I like the look at feel. However, I can't find any information about the "T" slot down the bottom of the handguard. I read somewhere about a "handstop slot" on the bottom of one of their models. I assume that's what this is. I can imagine what a handstop slot is used for, but where would I get and handstop (if I wanted one)?
Next question; (probably better put in the build section, but since I'm on the subject) any helpful hints for installing one of these? I've put in a few FF handguards, but this is a bit different... |

any way we could update the chart on the first page with newer offerings, e.g. VLTOR, JP VTAC, DD LITE, etc.

A little off topic but I have to ask.
Where could I find a write up on how to replace my stock front grip with a Midwest Industries rail? I have a RRA 16" CAR A4. Thanks! |
|
|
Is there any listing of the width measurements of the 2-piece and FF handguards? I've seen a lot of references to weights but couldn't find widths. Thanks for any help.

The MI weights need to be updated too:
MI (Midwest Industries inc.) is/has released a Generation 2 version of their handguards (both free float and non free float). The main upgrade/improvement is their new lighter weight. After some additional machining to the inside of the handguards they averaged a 15% drop in weight. New Weights MCTAR-17 (2 Piece Carbine Length) MCTAR-17C (2 Piece Carbine Length Colt© Mfg. Guns) Weight: 9.9 oz. MCTAR-18 (2 Piece Mid Length) Weight: 12.4 oz. MCTAR-19 (2 Piece Full Length Rifle) Weight: 16.0 oz. MCTAR-20 (2 Piece Free Float Carbine Length Forearm) Weight: 11.0 oz. MCTAR-20X (2 Piece Free Float Extended Carbine Length Forearm) Weight: 14.0 oz. MCTAR-21 (2 Piece Free Float Mid Length Forearm) Weight: 13.5 oz. MCTAR-22 (2 Piece Free Float Full Length Forearm) Weight: 17.1 oz. MCTAR-24 (2 Piece Free Float Forearm 10" Length) Weight: 14.7 oz. I just picked up a c-more systems quad rail to put over a 16" Bushmaster SuperLight barrel. I just wanted an inexspensive FF quad rail and the price seemed reasonable. Does anyone have any experience with this product? It seems to be built well but I guess I won't know until I get it installed. p.s. - If there are tricks to installing it (that aren't in the "installing a FF tube" post) please let me know. |

Hope this is the right thread. Anyone know where to get a handguard like the one on the bushmaster gas piston?
Thanks CB |
|
|
I would guess POF since they make the upper for Bushmaster. |

What's the deal with the Samson MRFS? Are they no longer being made? They don't have them on the website anymore. I've been wanting one for a while, so I'm trying if I should order one now while I still can.

Check out the Troy v. Sampson lawsuit info thread. Sampson lost a suit and can't make the rails anymore. |

Hi, I don't know if this was covered or not, but I was wondering what the numbers and letters on my flat top rail and my handguards are for? I have a mid-length
High Standard arms M-4 with carbine handguards. |

Reference marks so you can put stuff back on in the same place. |

All the technical info on these forearms is great, but I'd like to see more reviews from those of you that have them on your AR's. I've looked through this thread & haven't found the answer to an earlier question about the Surefire M85's & I'm also debating on the MI #18's. How did the install go, good tight fit up, is there any torqueing/rotation when using a forward pistol grip, overall opinion, do you wish you'd bought another brand? Thanks for any answers.

I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I have read here for awhile but never really post. I have a KA M5 RAS onmy bushmaster dissipator, I shaved the inner part of the top rail for the gas block and the rail is rock solid. The bottom rail is tight until i put a fore grip on it and it has some play, is this normal for such a high quality rail system? Is there a way to fix this without getting a FF? Do other 2 piece rail systems have this problem? Thanks everyone.

What is the general consensus on the Samson MFRS-C, Im thinking about picking up the Stag Upper with one already installed and was just wondering if it was a pretty good forend.

Does anyone know if the larue rails will fit over a chopped off FSB like is shown in the big how-to thread? http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782
Information on gas block options like that that fit/don't fit each rail system might be handy. |

How durable are the free float rail systems like the Larue and Daniel Defense compared to the KAC M5 handguards? Im not gonna break them at the attaching point going prone if they bash on a rock or anything am I?

Someone help me please. I am down to a DD lite 10.0 and a SWS Midlength. I just want to know if the SWS locks like the DD lite? Both are similar in weight so thats not an issue- I would prefer one with no roll. Thanks for the input.

Any opinion on CAA X6L vs. the YHM lightweight FF rail? I can get either for about the same price. I'm kind of leaning towards the CAA X6L, but the YHM seems lighter.

I just purchased a VLTOR CASV and put it on my RRA carbine. Its more than I expected. I love this thing and I'm thinking of buying another to take to Iraq with me to put on my issued M4. You can see me firing it on Youtube under the screen name Stylensky.

I was just wondering if anyone knows who makes Noveskes quad rail. Do the make them themselves, or are they another brand that is just marked with Noveske.
Thanks, John |

You can compute/estimate the weight of the VIS rail by subtracting the weight of the MUR from the total weight of the VIS. The weights are on the VLTOR web site. What rails does Noveske use on the non-VIS N4 Light Carbine Low Profile Upper? |

I would also like to know about this. |
