any KAC RAS II feedback or pics from current users?  I would be running an Aimpoint PRO in a LT-152 mount.

There is a 200+ page thread on SOCOM block II weapons floating around.  Lots of pics of RAS II.

He's looking for the KAC RAS 2, not the DD RIS II.

Not too many pictures of military used RAS 2s out there.

Thanks Augee, had a momentary lapse of intelligence and forgot the Block II uses the DD rail.  Removing foot from mouth and going running now......

Is the lack of viable pics or users an indication that i should seek an alternative?

Shouldn't matter what you choose for the PRO unless you are putting it way out there. The RAS is nice but the DD rail costs much less and is almost identical.

It's got a hump in the middle of it.  I've had an EOTech on the hump and off, currently off and on the receiver (versus over the barrel).  It is a solid free-float solution that did not involve removing the FSB (which would have been tough with the pinned compensator.  Might be a little heavy and past its prime but it works for me.

I picked mine up cheap on the EE.

Huh? I bought my RAS II from KAC for $150, that's a lot less than any DD rail I've seen. I run an Aimpoint m2 in an ARMS mount on the "hump" and feel like it is a great spot for the optic.

I'm not 100% in love with the setup. I wish I had a couple more inches of rail out front and a pencil barrel to offset some of the weight out front but, that's not the rails fault. I should have a SBR stamp soon so I may cut the 14.5" colt upper it's on to 10.3" for a mk18 clone and get a mid length 14.5" light weight to replace this upper.

The price point was a large factor as as well ($150- with covers and VG).   Thanks for the pic, that was the setup i was thinking with LMT buis but with a B5 sopmod

It's just "old tech," it's basically an M4 RAS with a ARMS SIR or Vltor CAS-V EL type attachment, clamping on to the upper receiver.

There's nothing "wrong" with it, it's just not the newest / sexiest rail out there.

It exists almost solely for mounting an Ainpoint on a low mount over the delta ring while free-floating the barrel.  If you can find one cheap and don't care about having the newest, coolest rail, it's a cheap and easy way to free-float your barrel.  At retail, though, there are better options.

My bad. I was thinking of the M4 RAS price when I posted that.

I feel like at 150 with the vfg and rail covers it's a good deal. Like others have said if you wan to run something other than an Aimpoint on the hump your options are limited, also if you want full co-witness I don't think it's possible.  I'll take a pic of it with a SOPMOD tomorrow if you'd like.

RAS II is still my favorite FF rail system for an Aimpoint sighted carbine gas systems.

Love mine.  Used em overseas on the musket length and carbine and held up and did the job.
