I am considering picking up a magpul UBR stock for my 300 blackout build. Is it worth the price? Does it feel more solid as they advertise?

Thanks

This.  If it was lighter, other stocks might cease to exist from lack of demand.

Couldn't agree more.

I'll be in the other room, please ignore the moaning.

I don't have any UBRs, I have a prototype of the M93 and a couple M93Bs. Pure sex!

Dang, I only have 3 (so far)...

Awesome stock and it balances nicely for me.  Then again, I'm not humping a 110# load over the mountains for days/weeks, much less more than 20# on any given outing more than several hours (not including old/fat/unsat weight).

I do have one on a 458S and absolutely no issues but I'm sure a CTR would hold up just fine.

B2

Here's a "temp" config and my first UBR stock:

(Posted specifically for the MAGPUL haters with a sprinkling of PSA, LaRue, AR15.com and AimPoint... )

They're a little heavy and the cheek weld could be better (shape, not placement).

The idea on the other hand is nothing short of epic awesomeness.

the cheek weld is one of the best parts about it for me

Great stock. I don't even notice the weight.

I love Magpul stocks. I've been on-board with them since the early days of the M93 but I'm glad they've come out with more options because I prefer to choose a stock to fit the rifle's role. It wasn't until I got my STR that I realized I have a big variety of Magpul stocks but that wasn't intentional but was driven but the role of each rifle for me.

I've got 1 UBR on my 20" "precision" AR. It's good for that rifle because of the solidity of the stock (when locked down), the consistent cheek weld (LOP changes don't affect it) and the weight balances the rifle (20" govt profile with 12" KAC FF RAS)

The only reason I have an MOE is because it came with a DD
rifle I bought. When I replaced the MOE with a STR, I relegated the MOE to my 22LR AR. It works so I haven't bothered replacing it but I still prefer any stock I use to have a locking mechanism.

For my 14.5" LW CQB rifle, with Aimpoint T-1, I chose a CTR because of its light weight. That rifle has a 9" DD Omega and Surefire M300 so it balances the rifle well.

I just put an STR on my DD 16" LW rifle because I wanted a good cheek weld for its Trijicon TA44SR-10 1.5X. The stock balances out the rifle and I like have the storage for CR123 (light) batteries.

My medium range rifle (DD 16" LW upper w/a Trijicon TA33G-H) wears an ACS because I shoot rifle prone a lot and the extra LOP, compared to the STR and CTR), works.

Finally, I still have an M93 and sits on my FN shotgun because its weight balances out the firearm and the stock feels solid.

When it comes to choosing a stock for a firearm, I consider the firearm's role, its optic, overall weight and balance. Pick the right tool for the job and you can't go wrong.

I like the old M93B stock.  It has the features that I would want in the UBR - mainly around solidness, cheek weld, and adjustability - without all the weight.

I put a UBR on my M16A4 clone. Works so much better than a fixed A2 stock.

I have several UBR stocks and I love them. Not to take this thread off track, but for an M16A4 type clone, if I was going to abandon the A2 buttstock, I would go with a VLTOR A5 receiver extension/buffer system, and put the new Magpul ACS-L stock on it. Oh wait, I did do that.

They have replaced the LMT sopmod as my favorite stock.
This lower is one of my favorites.

Yeah, but I loathe the M4 stock. If it was a choice between the two, I'd take the UBR if it weighed two pounds more.

It's also worth mentioning that in a recent test, the UBR proved to be the most durable stock currently on the market. To quote the linked article, "It took a ten foot drop to kill it; and that was after two-hundred 3-foot drops."

While the UBR may be more refined and robust than it's ancestor, the M93, I find the locking latch on the UBR not as easy to use as the M93.

I like Magpul stocks but not one of them is the best to me. They all have their pros and cons, based upon your needs and you rifle's needs.

Make sure they are not knockoffs.  I fellow Arfcom'er was sold a knockoff recently.

That of course goes without saying but the vendor offering that price is legit.
