Folks, here is some John Thomas, Braceman, and mongo001 magic!
This started out as an AR-10B upper and a set of the round handguards that used to come on the AR-10Bs. Braceman milled off the shell deflector, did some beautiful engraving on the left side like the Telco uppers and re-anodized everything.
I then sent the handguards, an A1 pistol grip and a Rainier Arms SS medium contour barrel and an M16A2 FSB off to John Thomas. He re-finished the furniture in his beautiful "mottled brown", turned down the barrel in front of the gas journal to .625" and mounted the FSB.
In the meantime mongo001 machined some beautiful flash hiders using Artillerie Inrichtingen specs from factory drawings.
I got everything assembled this afternoon and just wanted to share. This is a "work in progress" so I still need to get with Braceman about some additional machine work on the lower receiver and hoping to snag one of the "retro front sight bases" that have been floating around here.
So, I just wanted to let everyone know that we're very fortunate to have craftsmen like John Thomas, Braceman and mongo001 among our members here! Thank you for your hard work - couldn't have done it without you guys!
