Just to check on my two favorite mediocre rounds I checked on 277wolverine and 25-45 loaded rounds. Sharps had not had any loaded rounds for almost a year ...they just happened to have one offering this evening . 277wolverine has been pretty steady . I think the 277wolverine has gone past 5000 bbls ...not sure about the 25-45 . I see 6mm max in roughly the same boat . It's not a bad thing ...it's a pretty decent cartridge...it's just mediocre.
* I picked up a 277wolverine bbl a couple of years after Kurt made me a 6.8x40 ( actually closer to 6.8x42) . Kurt's x40 would launch a 85gr bullet at over 3000 fps from a 16" bbl . The dies are basically shortened 7mm tcu dies . This is why I know a 6mm tcu would be within 3% of the 6mm max ( if that much ). Efficiency. You don't need a proprietary cartridge.
* 300 blk mags ;
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1018507080** 6max has the same case taper as TCU .
*** .390 is 3.2% greater than .378 . 59.9 is 9% greater than 55 .
**** if you do the math , the 6 tcu is out pacing the 6max ...to a certain bullet weight , sure . I'd say 80-87gr the tcu is out front .
***** the 6max has 7% more room for a bullet ...93-96gr
****** if they wanted to make it spc vs grendel they'd make it the 250max . 6.35x44 vs 6x38.5 . Just some late night thoughts .
******* this kinda makes me happy with the 6max; if you bump it to .257 and go 93gr x 1.07 = 99.x gr . That's a nice place for a AR15 250 savage .
******* but then I can run 25-45 in the SFAR at 2.5x" and get all the BC and SD . 110gr . No proprietary brass or rebated rim ...
