Ok, here's a scan of the 9mm Carbine section of the Model table:
Going by this, the full length rifle handguards, with the sight poking up, all containing a KAC suppressor, is the 636. And I'm with Whoopie, who mentioned earlier that the version with the aluminum free float that 65Pan's making, definitely fits the "RO630" description. Also the table jumps from RO656 to RO703, skipping over any "RO663" that the caption mentions. So I'm thinking it was a typo, and meant to be "RO633" ETA: On a side note, Whoopie, I'd love to see more shots of that 636 you've got going

Some people have asked about the 634. It is indeed a semi version of the 635, however the semi trigger mech is installed in a full auto capable lower (ie, sear hole has been drilled). I do believe that it comes marked with safe and semi, but no auto to reflect this. We have a few in Canada where it's not considered a machine gun because it was never assembled as a full auto to begin with. Wish I could find one but the scarcity is reflected in the price whenever they do pop up.

I cut the flutes over the weekend, they look really good to me. Tumerboy, any input on the sling slots before I cut them? Length, width, location? I'm thinking just over 1/8" wide, but it's hard to tell from the photo how long, and how far from center they are. I can cut the slots and wrap this up this week. I think I need to make the flange a little thinner also.

Ya, the flange might be a bit thick. As for the slots, it's hard to tell, but 1/8" sounds good, they look pretty thin, and look like they stay contained within the flat area of the back side of the flange. i.e. they don't look like they ride up the curvature at all. So however that seems to work out would seem right to me. |

to me the flange of the handguard in the B&W pics looks like it's a full radius, not just radiused on the edges, that may be why it looks thinner...just a thought

Well, at the moment I only have 1 colt 9mm Upper, which is Black.
But that's got my normal DOE barrel/sight assembly on it. |

I actually started out with two HG blanks because I know me, I can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at the last moment sometimes. I was wise to do so, I managed to mangle the sling slots up on the first one pretty good trying to get my set-up stable enough etc.
Whoopiewagon stopped by one day for a small project, so I offered him the lemon HG while he was here. He made lemonaide with it.
His first response was "I'll just put the sling through the most boogered up slot and nobody'll know the difference". Thanks for sending me the pics first Whoopie

That looks sweet! I'd just put a FH on it to protect the threads for now. Whoopiewagon and I were discussing a few ideas regarding the FSB, but we haven't gotten together yet to pursue it. We'll make two of whatever we come up with though.
Edit: What is the diameter of the shoulder just behind the threads, and what are the threads? I'll see what I can do. |

It's a standard DOE barrel, marked "C MP CB" and "9mm" I got it off the EE a month or two back. The guy before me had Adco thread it :::facepalm::: My regular Ar FHs fit on the barrel, so it's 1/2x28tpi. |

In the long run I want the straight front sight pinned to the .625 section like is shown in the Black Rifle images I posted earlier.
I'd love to have a thread protector that's .625" OD, comes out around the front of the barrel slightly, and just looks like the original barrel would have. (no knurling or anything) But for now I'll just put a FH on there. |

Clamp on? Looks pinned with one horizontal pin, just like the usual DOE sight to me.
Lol. I just meant for storage. Not planning to shoot until I figure out a front sight. and if I did, I hope I'd remember. Btw Mark, what was it I was supposed to do to the threads before mounting the HG? Was I supposed to lube them or something? Thanks again |

There's just too much of a chance for an accident. A little anti-sieze on the threads wouldn't hurt, grease will do. I'd give the HG a good tug with a strap wrench also, hand tight on a barrel nut just doesn't sound like enough to me. |

Huh, I'm just looking at the pic from BRII and it looks like there's a pin. But maybe it's a set screw or something?
Anyway, here's what I see when I look at the above picture from BRII: 
I feel like it's got the standard A1/A2 FSB Front Profile, tapering towards the top. But that shape is extruded straight back 0.500" instead of having the standard FSB shape. |

I used an A1 FSB for general measurements, only a little wider at the top. The pic looks like its wider but not by much and I thought it may make it easier to make. I have 2 blocks of steel .5"x 1" with the pattern scribed on one of them. Just need to get with Mark to see about making it happen. The pic looks like it's a pin on but it would be east to split the bottom and make it a clamp on for ease of installation and disassembly if need be. I'm not concerned with making it just like the one in the pic. I just want something that works as a front sight and looks close. It was a prototype anyway so I don't think making it a clamp on will take away from the build. Whoopie |

I was just going by this chart that was posted earlier in the thread, it shows the variant with the one piece, free float HG as having a clamp on FSB. A pin on would be easier to do as far as actually machining the FSB though.

There are a lot of sources out there with not fully accurate info. Honestly, I don't think any of use are ever going to see one in real life, so pin or clamp- either way it is going to look like the pic posted. [eta] compare the pin location to the barrel- it might be viewable as to whether the barrel diameter has the 'pin' passing through it, or if it is a clamping screw mounted below. I still vote pin.
