You will really like the PWS Piston System.. We really like the new Long Stroke System.

The original PWS Piston System was a Short Stroke Piston System that utilized a fixed op-rod and a seperate piston. The system had two settings, negatvie for use with sound suppressors, and positive for normal shooting.

The new and current PWS Long Stroke Piston System is what you will find in the PWS DC series and the ADDAX ATAC series of Gas Piston Uppers we build.





PWS is a production shop, where we here at Addax build more custom solutions and different calibers (like 6.8, 6.5 Grendel, and soon a 7.62x39 mode).






The PWS Long Stroke system bascially simplifies the overall design and operation of the piston system by incorporating the piston and op-rod together, so now you have one piston rod attached directly to the bolt, and the piston system has a good amount of gas dwell time, so the recoil impulse is smooth, and not punchy.
The Long Stroke system was basically designed with Military, Law Enforcement and Tactical applications in mind like a Combat Gun.  The Quad Rail System is an integral part of the piston system, and although it is not free floated, we do not see any loss of accuracy, and the gain with this type of Quad Rail design is that each rail side (top, bottom, left and right) are independent rail panels.  In case of damage, you are replacing a rail panel, not an entire rail or upper.
Also, with the new long stroke system, there are no adjustments, you can install a sound suppressor and shoot, you can use various loads of ammuntition and not have to worry about which setting the piston system needs to be in for specific types of rounds.
The Gas Block and Rail system are a low profile system, and the gas block sits under the rail panels, and there is plenty of venting for heat dissipation.
In a nutshell, the PWS Long Stroke System is a very simple, robust, yet refined piston system that is very easy to maintain, and the overall system operates with fewer parts vs. the earlier short stroke system.

I was out over New Years weekend testing the new x39 upper, and it ran beautifully!
